My dad took a mate of his to the airport in the early 80's and had free use for a couple of weeks.
We went out in it once. It showed 130 on the speedo, the petrol bill scared my dad to death, so he went back to his cit visa.
I was about 8. It was plush, automatic, and quick.
Funnily enough, most of the things I aspire to nowadays - apart from the metallic green.

One of my mates had a 30 in the mid-80's. Went like hell in a straight line, but that hefty V6 (shared with the Peugeot 604, Volvo 264/265, Delorean and Talbot Tagora) and wrong-wheel-drive meant it was a mushy understeery wheelspinning handful in the bends. And did about 15mpg. Dunno what did for them most....the wayward handling, the rotten 2.7 litre boat anchor of an engine, their propensity to dissolve before your very eyes like most late 70's Gallic tin or the fact that us Brits have never really GOT big French cars. Of course, I'd love one. Preferably THAT one. ;D

Utterly, utterly FIT. Dunno what did for them most....the wayward handling, the rotten 2.7 litre boat anchor of an engine, their propensity to dissolve before your very eyes like most late 70's Gallic tin or the fact that us Brits have never really GOT big French cars. I imagine a combination of rust and Alpine GTA owners wanting their engines did most of them in, in the end. Of course the worst car for engine raping was the Tagora V6, because it had a rare triple Solex carburettor set up that's very valuable to the Alpine boys.

The gearboxes were pretty desirable items fot kit cars as well which didn't help their demise. I have a 1980 TX model stashed away pending recomissioning at some point (been off the road since '88). At the moment, I'm just collecting parts for it. Could do with a new fuel tank which is proving a problem to find... Mine's an earlier one than the one up top so it has the early style dash. I think only UK ones had the wood dash trim... Check out the squashy armchairs. These things are MEGA comfortable....

The dash on the the top car looks like a Saab dash or possible Volvo, but the light switch is definitely Saab

The interior looks so French. Funny that. I love this, have to admit it's a car that's completely off my radar, don't think I can ever recall seeing one to be honest. Top one is fantastic and I can't wait to see the silver one get the RatDat treatment.

Since the GT40 replica's using the R20/30/25 gearbox in combination with a V8. It would be fun (ahum) to put such package in a big Renault hatchback.
