This is the b*llocks company that paid out for it.... www.rewardingrecycling.co.uk/Basically an agent that gives out a little less than weigh in price. They then get a local scrappy to go get it, and they receive a small percentage more. So this company probably made something like a £20 broker's fee, and the scrappy a bit more from me buying parts.... but still the car has to die a quite unjust death, all in the name of small convenient profits. Autogreen? Yeah right.... |

The numbers seem to fluctuate quite randomly, but it seems like there's now 3 or 4 Chryslers taxed and 1 sorned. A fair few more Talbots still (is that not what yours is Sam?) 31 taxed and 76 sorned. |

i like these cars,my dad had an orange one in 1983 and remember a few later ones going around 1.9 diesel's with black bumpers and big black type splitter spoiler under the front bumper this is in a field beside me,your car looks unreal by the way great 2 see them still about,there is one in ireland aswell yellow in colour  |

I nearly got a heart attack when I saw the green one being scrapped, whether in good shape or not it should be saved  We haven't had any of those 'Scrappage scheme' campaigns over here, yet, but despite that some pristine classics (-71 Lada, -72 Beetle etc.) have been scrapped just because the owner has wanted that no one else but him/her will ever drive the car. It is sad that some people just don't realise the value to others of their cars. |

Great pics recording a sad outcome. New to this super site and hope to contribute further. I own three Horizons (all Talbots). It is only to be hjoped that anyone acquiring a rare vehicle like this in such good condition can be made aware that there is not only a relatively thriving club (Simca Talbot) to support the owners but that in a purely commercial sense ther are collectors who would give much more than the paltry valuation on this particular car. At the end of the day, an owner can dispose of their car however they may wish but clearly this whole saga has made many people quite upset. |

Good shout with the Simca Talbot club for anyone who's into these, or thinking about one. My Horizon at the gathering on the cover of their newsletter....  And inside:  So yesterday myself and a team of mates got stuck in to the task of stripping the scrapped green Chrysler of its every useful part.....  Most of it came apart pretty easily to be fair...  Gordon just before he pulled the dashboard out onto his face....  Dave being far more mechanically competent than everyone combined (note some dodgy looking rust repairs in this pic!)  Chris being baffled by the laboratory jar that doubles up as a header tank....  Alistair getting stuck in.... Tom being Tom.  Stuart enjoying the refinements of Horizon life once again....  Dave getting up close to the big deathy cutting machine....  Exploded car:  Pretty much finished.... even the Torsion bars came off ok.   Me just pimpin' along in my new ride....  Think that'll do!  Convoy home....  |

It's mad that the green one ended up in the bone yard. I've taken parts off cars in better condition than mine that were one step from the crusher.
Good team strip effort! Now that shell's all naked you can see the VW Golf inspiration in the design.

The areas of rot did make us feel a bit better about the car's death though. This and a rotten front area of chassis leg. Still not worth scrapping it for, but at least it did show it wasn't in as good nick as my own car....    Plus here's the engine bay stripped of as much as could be realistically salvaged within the day we had...  |

Holy pants...!!! It is still so damn tragic to see this old motor stripped to its knickers but I totally understand that, due to toss-bag rules and regulations, it has to be this way... You good guys have done the old beast proud in making it live on in kit form...!!! I have to agree about the rusty bits though, it could possibly have been a bit too far gone inside...  |
