Hi all, I was recently chatting to a guy I know who owns a classic car garage and he revealed to me that tucked away in his garages' store loft he has a HUGE amount of genuine NOS repair panels for a host of old cars. They are mostly opel/ vauxhall (but not exclusively) as his premises used to be a Vaux dealership back in the day. The panels range from boots, bonnets, nose sections, inner wings, rear 3/4's basically all sorts of stuff, this place really is a gold mine!! cars-wise I saw stuff for all manner of varian of opel kadets, mantas, mk2 cavs, and a bunch of others that I've now forgotten... He said he was looking for a way to get rid of them all so I mentioned to him that I'd put posts on a few forums I frequent, like RR! I think the easiest way to do this would be if your serious about wanting some panels let me know what car you have and I'll see what he has for your car, and how much he wants for them. You'll need to be specific though, don't want any unsatisfied customers! even if it's not a opel/vaux motor it's worth a try. I know I'm being a little vague but it's deliberate and with good reason A) I don't want to be chasing my tail for guys who are 'dead keen' but never cough up (I'm not accusing anyone of anything but we've all dealt with a few of those in the past I'm sure), and B) I don't want my contact to be deluged by calls from those guys and have the same problem! He's a decent chap. So anyone interested? I'll be checking out his Mk1 cav stock myself! James

if you don't go at this logically dude, you will go nuts! surely the way to do it is to start cataloging it panel by panel...................could be good games thread on here, "ID this mystery panel" My thoughts exactly, but they're not my panels and I don't have free access to them. They guy is trying to catalogue what he has and I went to see him today about the wish lists I've already received. His response was " I'm really busy right now and I don't really know whats there yet, I must go through them sometime, come and see me on monday". Which I will! I don't want to make a nuisance of myself to him but at the same time I'm trying to do business with him so need some progress! I guess I was testing the levels of interest, and the response is good so I'll push a little harder for specifics and prices. Might take a few weeks but we'll get there I'm sure ;D I like the idea of a "Guess the Panel" quiz thread, maybe if I offer him our collective expertise in ID'ing some of the panels it'll win me some favours with him?! just to keep folks up to date with this. As a result of the last few chats with this guy I'm now in the process of buying the whole lot. It amounts to about 60 items, mostly large panels but also some grills, a few suspension components, bumpers and a spoiler in all, which is a slightly eye-watering amount of money, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity! (well could you?!!) Haha! The last few panels are coming out of the loft soon and I hope to have them stowed away in my brother-in-laws cellar in the next few weeks. Then the sorting job starts and I guess I'll start a mammoth for sale/ picture thread on here to sell the ones we've ID'd and ID the rest! Anyone who has PM'd me will get dibs in order that the PM's were received. I'll PM you all back when I have something to tell you. seems the fairest way. As we all know these things take a bit of time to sort so I thank you all for your patience in advance and I'll try and get at least an en masse pic up at some point to prove I'm not making it all up! Best regards, James p.s. Mods: is there anyway to merge this thread and my other one that's in the 'parts for sale' board? would make it easier for me to keep tracks on everything. obviously your choice as to whether it stays on this board or the other!

Just to wet your appetites! Enjoy...... He reckons there are about 10 more still to come out of the loft space. I'm allowing myself to get a little bit excited now! James

Right then folks, a little update. After a mammoth day yesterday, I finally got to bed at 03:45 this morning, but the good news is these panels and a few more besides are now in my possession and safely stored away at a secret location I have photos of each one, plus a pic of each part number. (183 pics!! ) When I get a chance (probably Thurs afternoon or this w/e) I'll catalogue what there is, message anyone who has asked for something specific if I have one, and list the whole lot on here. I'll list them all in the for sale thread and all business will be done through that thread or PM's just for ease! That thread will probably become something of a "guess the panel" thread too as there are some that I have no clue as to what they are and the part number stickers has fallen off. Should be fun! ;D Kindest regards, James

I think I saw an original Nova spoiler in the loft of the place, I didn't pick it up as I was nearing my spending limit!! but if you want it I could chase it up for you. It's the grey rubber one-piece type that goes around each side and top of the rear window. James
