oooh I loves me some Leons, I've had quite a few. Here's the last one I had (which I really miss and prefer to the one above tbh) ignore the rather gaudy rear lights - they were replaced later on with stock items but using the led innards. Also I know it's not as low as we like, but I drove it lots and drove it hard. If you ask me it's not right to slam a cupra R - especially on ARBs and all that. It drove so well that I couldn't bring myself to lower it more than I had already. That car flew and if I could afford it I'd get another tomorrow. Brilliant cars.

^^Lovely stuff. Mine's a bog-standard 20v T Cupra (the Audi TT-spec 180bhp one, rather than the saucy Cupra R like yours). I love it to bits, having had such bad luck with the BMW we had before it.
Went in for a new cambelt today, though. £480. Ouch.

I don't understand this forum anymore.
Ive been on here years and although i don't post often i have a look in for a couple of hours most days and threads like this confuse me.
You wouldnt be allowed to sell these cars in the for sale section as you would be shot down with a "too new sorry" and it would be locked yet you seem to be able to post as much modern and (in my opinion, I'm not speaking for everyone) bland, uninteresting stuff and it just gets overlooked.
Oh well. Rant over.
Ill start putting together a penance thread.

you seem to be able to post as much modern and (in my opinion, I'm not speaking for everyone) bland, uninteresting stuff and it just gets overlooked. I'm sorry if you think it's bland and uninteresting, but we can't all like everything. I'd hope, though, that it would inspire discussion rather than being overlooked. I try to post up an eclectic mix of (IMO) interesting cars so that there's something for everyone; without wanting to get into the whole 'what is retro?' hornet's nest, I've always felt that it can be argued that interestingly-executed moderns have as much validity in this parish as the more traditionally 'retro' stuff, as we can analyse details and treatments and discuss how they might be applied to other cars and so forth. I'm aware that not all users share this opinion, but the fact that the forum mods occasionally post up cars of a similar age for similar reasons justifies my efforts... So, apologies if you think I'm polluting the board with inappropriate material. Perhaps there might be something in here that's more to your taste?

Yeah he has a carbon fibre problem. And possibly an OCD one too. On that note, is it wrong that I get irritated that the carbon fuse cover has the weave going the opposite direction of the rest of the carbon?

First of all I consider 'Sorry, too new' to be just about the least inflammatory way of locking a thread there can be. I'm not sure what your personal definition of 'shot down' is but mine doesn't involve a polite explanation and an apology. Regarding the posting of modern stuff on the forum, DBizzle is a regular contributor of high quality and as such, I trust his opinion...he also was clearly aware that this particular car wasn't going to appeal to everyone which is why he opened the thread with an explanation of his reasons for including it: Blah blah modern yadda yadda. The mis-matched roof colour on this is an interesting touch that would translate well to similar curvy shapesAll you had to do if you didn't like it was not reply.

Had a LCR as a company car. Was an expensive car for them to run though, new pads every 5k, tyres at 10k, discs every 20k, clutch made 60k just and was on it's way out again at 100k before it went back to lease company. Then I got a Prius instead. Tax is a lot lower but it does seem to take a while to get places.... I do like mismatched roof colours, very fetching on a lot of motors now.

It's unfortunate that we now seem to be getting to the point where people are attempting to pre-absolve themselves with a penance thread in an attempt to justify what they are going to post. . .

I like the OP car, and i usually like 2 tone, but there is something in my opinion about the roof that looks a bit "bashed and mended", like a door that was replaced without being repainted... Maybe the colour is too radical departure... not sure. Is it maroon?
Stance is bang on though. Nice and simples.

People doing silly things with their roof, I happen to think it's always worth a go. Nothing that hasn't been said before about the 'retro' debate. My take on it is, a Leon isn't retro, no one can claim it is. It wouldn't have been allowed on here a few years ago, BUT No one forces anyone to look at it if they don't want, and often there is some very cool stuff that can translate. Maybe we should just name such threads with 'Modern content' then people can just ignore if they are that bothered. I have always loved the rear half of the Leon, something great about the sweep of the window line.
