A friend has just got himself an E30 bimmer 318 and the roof's spotted with rust. What's the best way tyo go about getting rid of it? Sand it back, treat with rust-cure stuff? If so, which one? Then just spray with red oxide? Cheers, *n

Wazz round to the local paint shop.
If it's just the roof it may cost alot less than you'd think... and a whole heap less effort.

He has exactly nowt to spend :/
I'd help him out by getting some curust stuff. :/
Bonnet needs a bit done too...It actually just looks like it's been really thinly painted.

I just sand it back to baremetal and then use the rust cure - as you already suggested. However I have never done this and seen the results in a couple of years...
