Having soem issues with my winter hack peugeot 205 D I bought it as a non runner with a suspected duff injection pump, anyway I replaced that, and got it running, seems the p/o was running it on cooking oil or something, and as its fitted with a Lucas pump, it killed it there's a full tank of fuel in it (whatever that stuff he was running it on is) so I didn't really want to empty it and just left it in there thinking it would be ok for a short time. anyway, went to move it today so I could finish a few jobs on it boefore the mot, and it started ok, ran for a bit then died seems there is no diesel at the injectors again, same as before? surely they don't break that easily? its maybe run for 2 hours max, I know they don't like cooking oil, but are they that easily damaged? I'm thinking on sticking a Bosch pump on it as there 100% more reliable, do they swap over OK, or Will I need the injectors etc (ill be fitting the Bosch type heated filter and priming bulb as there a better system imho, I know there are a few guys on here that know more about these than I do (more a petrol man really....) thanks

I know the Lucases have a curse word rep but I can't imagine one being destroyed that quickly by veg, unless it was already tired and on the brink of giving in? Did it die straight away or splutter a bit first?
I have a spare non-turbo Bosch one for a XUD9 1.9 but I thought the 205s had 1.8s so possibly won't fit.

Yes, the Lucas pumps really are that curse word. I've heard about them dying within 5 miles of running on veg, so 2 hours at tickover might be enough.
Don't know about the Bosch conversion I'm afraid.

TBH i've never run a lucas on 100% veg, that's like Russian roulette unless you start and finish on diesel AND run a heated feed/tank for the oil, with weaker mixtures the seals tend to leak first, it's cold starting that is the danger with lucas pumps on veg and it sounds like you may have just descoverd that

Blimey, I didn't realise they were that fragile. Well I've got the Bosch pump, lines and injectors so PM me if they're of any use to you

Well I've got the Bosch pump, lines and injectors so PM me if they're of any use to you neither did i, though they would last a few months on it before dieing hence why i left it in the tank interested in the pump etc lines would be handy too, i went to see if i could get one of the hand pump primers today as mine has the older type filter, not one in the scrappy here, all been robbed already :/
