It has probably been done before but theres so much to look through when you search.
I want to know about classic insurance for myself. I'm 21 with 3 years drving experience. does anywhere cater for my age? I looked into footman james and they say 25+ and 5 years driving experience.......
just wondering if anybody has a definitive answer for me?
At the moment I'm paying an astronomical £1986 for my 1.4 8v peugeot 106. so if i can get a decent classic quote on something like maybe a rover 216 saloon or something that will look cool when its downed and outed then this could same me alot of money!!

there is an insurance thread in the FAQ and if you search on insurance you'll find other threads with people recommending various brokers.
I;m afraid it will be a case of phoning round and round

Footman James will quote you on 'proper' classics (Herald, Minor, Beetle, Mini etc) so I'd recommend finding something older and cooler!

How about calling them and asking them? Due to the vast difference in peoples ages, driving history, jobs, locations and no claims bonus' - let alone different cars, ages of cars, values of cars and ranges of mods, it's absoltely impossible to know which one will suit YOU. So best bet is to get on the phone and ring around all the companies listed in the links mentioned above. Sure it's going to take a bit of time, but only you can get the quote that works for you. Please don't think I'm being dismissive, it's just that no one other than insurance companies can give you the answers.

I had a classic policy from age 19 or 20, with Adrian Flux. Try Peter James and Brentacre (as mentioned) as well You need to get on the phones, though, and pound the pavement - online won't help you much for stuff like this, in terms of quotes. If you haven't already, don't forget that making your policy fully comp can reduce the cost considerably. Especially if you're just looking to reduce the premium on your existing car Of course, the all-important no-claims bonus is what really makes the difference to quotes in many instances, although a lot of classic policies don't require any. Be wary - some classic or specialist policies don't accumulate no-claims bonus, so you can get caught out big-time later on. Ask, or be prepared to accept a hefty initial payment on a 'normal' policy when you need to switch later. Some will accept an 'in-house' no-claims on policies if you're transferring from old to new but you can't take that to other companies.

The only thing i'd prob suggest, pick one that's powerful enough for ya! A lot of these classic companys are "ok" with things like airfilters, exhausts and normal mods, but are running a mile from engine conversions and big power mods on the younger driver. The only reason mine was so cheap, and i could add the second car for free was the fact i have NO performance mods in terms of power output
