well following a trip to a local country park/water activities place the boys asked if they could try canoeing
ive somehow now ended up with 3 canoes, two paddles and a car trailer
this is the trailer as it was bought, off a fellow RR'er, super light to move about and at 5x3 just right for all sorts of things really.
I set to sorting the dodgy light board first off, sanding the contacts and adjusting a wayward bulb sorted them out.
next was the wheels, awful looking. for now I wanted a very cheap fix as I'm in the process of "hopefully" getting some banded steels for it ;D
I was amazed at the price of trailer tyres given that one is tread free I figure I may as well have some cool rims if I'm forking out for tyres anyway.
so as the weather was nice today, sanded and scraped the rusty, rough paint off, then masked them up
then painted them in some fast dry enamel. now look all shiny which will keep the missus off my back about having a trailer on the drive.
I'm hoping to have a small frame made that I can take in and out of the trailer for when the canoes are in use, kind of an H frame at the front and an extended one at the back, joined the length of the trailer (tried to show you in MS paint but I couldnt draw a straight line to save my life ;D)
I'm thinking 1" square bar should be more than adequate as the canoes are only 12-13ft long, if anyone has any better/cheaper/easier ideas feel free to comment.
i'll have more pics next week hopefully when the frame is made. then it'll just be a general tidy.
ive ordered some wire cups to tidy up the scruffy silver frame, then I can paint it with some Hammerite to prolong its life, few stickers and we're away
