	Ok.. So I got this Jeans beetle, which has had a front end bash, so I decided to do the decent thing.. as they only made 1000 of them, I'm going to chop it up, jack it up, put a mild motor in with stainless cannon exhausts and terrorise the local countryside ;D But shhhh.. I've got a pair of 7x15 Modular/Moonshine wheels for the rear and a pair of 31x10.5 15's for the rear. I've got the rear end cut away, started to mock fit the baja kit to it, and am currently on the lookout for a Baja flip front (there's one on ebay.. it's a long way from me.. but I'm probs gonna punt). The suspension I want to keep at "stock" height, but I want to get the raise out of the tyres. So the rear is sorted, 31's should fit OK, but the front, well I want something tall and narrow. Apparently, 7.00 x 15's easily fit on the stock 4j beetle rims, this would be PERFECT. However.. can't find a set in the UK. What's the tallest 15" tyre I'll get on a 15" rim?, the 7.00x15's are about 29"'s

	I'm not sure if you know how tyre sizes work dave, but 7.00x15 is a crossply/bias belted tyre. basically if the first number is single digit imperial, its crossply/bias, if its metric its a radial. numbers such as 31x10.5 can be either. are yours radials or bias?(itll say on the sidewall). i guess youre looking for a bias type tyre, rather than a true vintage crossply? northants tyres probably have what you need, but they wont be cheap.

	I know how they work Dez , the 31's I've got are Radials. Yokohama do a radial 7.00 x 15 too, that's why I asked Yokohama Y742S Radial Traction's get used a lot on the front of US Baja's

	And yeah, I'm not really after a vintage style tyre, I just want to get the height up at the front, and it needs to deal with mud and stuff. I'm sure there's a few early US Jeeps and stuff that'd run a similar size?, no?

	the yokes are a new one on me, but I suppose it makes sense so you can run matching tyres F+R. fyi, the stock bug tyre size pre-radial was 6.70x15, so a 7.00 isnt that much bigger. even a full profile 175R15 doesnt come close in height terms, which is as wide as youd get away with really on a 4" rim. ive jsut had a look on north hants, and they do these, which would look the shizzle on the front of a baha, they're crossplies though- www.northhantstyres.com/main%20tyre%20pages/Firestone/70015firndcc.htm theres at the bottom of this page. a bit steep mind.... www.northhantstyres.com/vintage-tyre-search-final/70015.htm

	They're bar slicks, common on army stuff in the 70's and 80's, landys and forward controls especially. Absolutely no grip in the wet! You ain't laughed till you've seen a 101 FC drifting around a wet roundabout at 5mph! ;D You can pick them up cheap from the 101 forums, £60-100 for a part worn set of 4 as everyone seems to want wider unimog rims with modern wide soft mud tires. Mostly came in 16" though.

	I like the look of them coker style ones Dez, but I fear they'll be awful on the road. It's a vehicle I plan to actually use, so I really need something that'll perform OK on and off road.
