Really want to get back behind the wheel of a Mk1 Scirocco again and have had this car for two years. Bought it for spairs for my old car, but it was really too good to break. Thoughout about selling it a few times, but everytime I go to my folks house (where I keep it) I keep thinking "I would really like to get her back on the road again". And all these ideas that "vw" keeps coming up with on here are really not helping ! Here she is: she looks OK in this shot but follow this link for the other photos and tell me if you think she is too far gone please. www.raleighchopper.co.uk/rocco.htmCheers guys. Ben

Hmmm, it does look a bit crusty around the edges, however, it's a MkI 'rocco with, I assume (looking at the shots) the early dash, so it's almost certainly worth thinking about restoring. Price up new panels from Eurocarparts and GSF - that's what's likely to make or break the project.
As I recall, the main killer for all MkI Golf based cars is the tunnel in which the rear axle runs - something to do with the cost of a complete rear end strip and the very poor access to replace rotten metal.

Doesn't look so bad to me. Make your mind up quick though or it will be too late, and you will be guilty of its downfall! At least blatter some waxoil on it for the time being.

I think that's perfectly saveable. A lot of it is cosmetic by the looks of it, so getting an MOT shouldn't be a big deal (in theory anyway) Definitely try and save it!

Check the front bulkhead (both sides) as it bends under to join front floor pan and see if rotten (drivers footwell okay?), also what are bottom of door pillars like? Sill seam where it joins floor can 'vanish' in places with rust and while poking arround sill area see if rear of sill is rotten next continue poking arround rear part of sill to see if 'closing' panel on inside behind sill has rotted. ...And then decide how much welding you wish to do

Maybe they ended, there was a sill or two, and a floorpan repair i think. Theres a pair of wings too, search europe.
I saw that car, but at the time i was looking for a complete donor vehicle i could drive home, ill still go that way if possible.
So, this is your other rocco is it? It doesnt look too bad, looks like rear arches, rear valance and bottom of front wings. You could make panels for all those, i rarely buy repair panels.
Floors and sills look ok in your pics.

At least if your saving the car you don't have to be too precious with it, especially as it has the sunroof fitted. I really want to pull the arches on mine but i cant bring myself to do it.
Fix it up, pull the arches, slam it and have some fun ;D
