My bloody kangoo, after 2000 miles in last few weeks refuses to start. its the silly garin of rice key. Now its a diesel so imobiliser can't attack anything other than the fuel cut off. so how do i get round it, cut all the wires of the pump and try a trail and error method? anybody done this. PM me if you feel its not in the public interest!

Cut the plate off the back of the pump and run an ignition live to the stop solenoid.

Cover it in jam and wait till the ants eat through it.

Does the key not work at all, even if you hold the plastic bit against the metal bit?
The AA man told me you can get keys fro a locksmith near here for £30 but they don't work the central locking.
Also are you sure its the key? The connections on the solonoid can get lose/crusty - worth spending 5 mins with a wire brush and pliers.
If you break it can I have the passenger side drive shaft?? :-)

mdh, I have plenty of shafts, however, they are all renault ones, and they are rubbish. the tripod joints are of such poor quality, they sit in the gearbox, the bearings run away and eat the diff! so although i have plenty i wont sell you one, and i'd never buy a second hand one! I replace them now with good new ones from jr driveshafts, they have 2 years warrenty and are miles better quality. granted they were being eaten buy my valver powered kangoo, but the difference by looking is noticeable. and at £45 mine arrived the next day, no surchage!

Is it definately the key thats failled or an imboliser fault? New key cut/ coded at a decent lock smiths? I used to pay about £20 but as someone else said they don't come with buttons for the central locking etc. If its like a transit immobiliser then you need to fit a new stop solenoid (cheap) as the old one is part of the whole set up and can't be powered up seperately.

You can code a new key to the car by doing some voodoo with the central locking...
Think there's something on the Reno club website

That voodoo only codes the key to the central locking. If you want to take the pump off and drill the shear bolts out you can remove the plate that way. The stop solenoid on these can just be wired up to a normal ignition live. I've done a few of them.

Did you get it fixed yet?
My Kangoo came to a grinding halt this week, feels like a drive shaft has snapped.

not yet. well i have cut away the top cover of pump. put in a single wire pump solonoid, and it now runs, however i have a leak, hoping i haven't trashed the pump and its just where i don't have a 24mm box spanner.
MDH it will probably be the inner tripod joint has spun off. shafts shouldn't snap. without serious abuse. have a look at it and i'll let you know if i can help. i hope you have killed the diff with driveshaft bearings

Yup when I said snap, i wasnt thinking of the 2" steel! :-)
It turned out to be the off side outer toilet joint.
Why cant Reno use proper CV's like a real car manufacturer?? >:-(
Got a s/h shaft in for the moment, just need some cable ties to hold the boot on now, and it'll be back on the road!

If you get any takers, they can buy mine too and make one semi decent van from the two I wish I'd never sold my old R4 F6, that thing was indestructible!

i got a spare pump, but as interest wasn't great at 400quid with loads of mot, probably not worth me even doing it. MDH whats your van like? still thinking i'll get a 1.4 mpv type and re shell my f7p van next year, so i could just keep the engine and box on this one till then. as my shell is pretty mint!

Yup mines almost mint too! They don't seem to rust, but the drive trains don't seem too robust.
I was thinking of putting a Megane rt 1.9 dt engine into mine. A bit more power would be nice :-)
