i am needing a new compressor and was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiance with the cheap (sub £200) ones on ebay? the spec is v twin motor, 50l tank, 3hp, 14cfm. they all offer 12mths warranty and as far as i can tell, are identical to the ones at machine mart but £100 cheaper.
the one i have is a 1.5hp, 50l tank which is next to useless now but i was going to run the tanks in series to give me more capacity. any opinions or advice would be most welcome.
cheers.

To be honest a lot of the stuff Machine Mart sells under the Clarke brand are just badged versions of Chinese products and, as you say, you can find often find them cheaper elsewhere.
My compressor is an ex industrial 3 phase unit that I fitted a (Chinese) new single phase 3 hp motor - plus a few other tweeks such as pressure unloader and altered belt gearing. Works fine but in the end cost a lot more than the one you are considering so I'd check sellers feedback etc and take a risk for sub £200. BTW My 3hp motor won't run off a 13 amp socket. I had to put in a dedicated 16 amp supply.

yeah i know about the socket situation and will have to upgrade the current rating but i think it might be worth a punt. they look identical to the clarke ones for 2 thirds the price.
cheers.
