Have had this for 2 weeks now, and after 700 miles of (almost) trouble free motoring i thought i would post up a thread Plans at the moment are to sort out the dodgy painted hubs and front bumper, fix some of the runs in the paint, strip and rebuild the carb (leaking a bit) and give it a full service. I have also got some foam to firm up the front bench a bit and it is in need of some new carpets but that will have to wait The brakes and suspension could also do with some 'modernising' as this is now my daily driver. Any help and suggestions appreciated [a href=" |http://thumbsnap.com/BllaJrsG"] |http://thumbsnap.com/BllaJrsG[/a] [a href=" |http://thumbsnap.com/V7RqoZh9"] |http://thumbsnap.com/V7RqoZh9[/a] [a href=" |http://thumbsnap.com/3dqQ0jjz"] |http://thumbsnap.com/3dqQ0jjz[/a] [a href=" |http://thumbsnap.com/bQv5Mgj8"] |http://thumbsnap.com/bQv5Mgj8[/a]

Cool daily, looks in good nick aswel, atleat everything is fixable with no horid electornid gremins. Re chrome bonnet and hub caps is expensive, maybe good second hand will be cheaper as these cars are still well undervalued compared to ford/vauxhall, l'd leave that one on over the winter and but something on the rear one to protect it from the salt might look curse word but clean it off in the spring and she'll shine ;D

Very tidy and kudos for using it daily!
Ive never like it when people claim you cant use old cars daily, people on here are always proving that statement wrong.
Cant wait to see more.

Nice! That's going to be great to pootle about in. I really like the styling of these earlier versions of the Audax range. Once they hit the sixties they started to get a bit flabby with re-styles that I don't think worked so well.

Yes I'm another fan of the early styling.. not that later iterations looked bad either. '53 Studebaker inspired styling so nice.

Nay! I like it standard! I like the Minx; they're pretty cars, especially in this colour. David

Looking at it from the side, I reckon the upper door frames need to be white to match the roof.
Ultra cool daily. Personally, I'd be getting it down over a set of fat slot mags pronto!

Started work today Replaced the grotty old heater hoses I then removed the tow bar: And tidied the wiring in the boot Before: After: I also had to fix the brake lights which ended up just being a dodgy connection on the brake pressure switch (once i had managed to find it!). I also fixed the dodgy tick ver which turned out to be the idle adjustment being set far too lean. A quick go with the colourtune and it was sorted I also have some service bits on order which should be here soon and i can crack on with that.

Welcome to RR!! Love these, especially the early ones like this. Like it as it is, but having seen the mock-up of how it would look lowered I don't think I'd be able to resist the temptation. Would leave the wheels alone though (except for some chrome beauty rims maybe), looks lovely like that.

Um....at the end of the day lowering is a personnal thing, as it's used every day you might get tired of the lack of suspension movement or the thing bottoming out all the time, i'd look at adding anti roll bar if it hasn't got one and replacing the dampers as they may be tired.

Much to my surprise I quite like it lowered but would leave it be as it looks such a lovely example. One thing I certainly would do is get it properly covered in Waxoyl applied by schutz gun and compressor. Door cards off and liberally coat the door bottoms ,drill some discreet holes in the inner sills and get it sprayed in there too, in fact every cavity you can find ! 10 Lt which is < less than £50 would take it through winter with no serious deterioration. Good luck with it it's a beauty.......

Thanks for the suggestions everyone I definately want to keep it looking fairly standard, and because the suspension needs looking at anyways (its very rolly polly) i will have a look at how difficult it will be to upgrade everything. You can get Spax adjustable dampers for these from one supplier so i will probably go down this route first, but i have not even had any time yet to look at the front and see how hard a coilover type setup will be to fit. I will not be chopping springs or anything as if it is lower i would like it to handle better too. I am more interested in the drivability of the car, just the looks would be an added bonus 8) So ideally i can get adjustable dampers for the back and lowering blocks with a coilover setup for the front if all is well. If not i will keep standard heights and just Spax dampers all round. Talking about the door paint i will probably get the tops done in the same colour as the roof as it does seemed to have been missed from the previous owners respray After a bit of research i have also found out that i have a Series 3 car, but with a Series 3a grill. Looking at the manufacture date it was right in between the cross over so maybe i have a bit of a hybrid model, or maybe someone in the past wanted the newer style grill? Progress will be a bit slow though I'm afraid as i have just moved into my first house so funds are a little tighter than i am used to On a different note i am approaching the 1000 mile mark for the car in my ownership and she is still plodding along wel

Popped a rear wheel cylinder just before christmas which was a bit of a pain 2 new cylinders were £70! Not what I am used to after getting bits for the girlfriends Morris but oh well. Got it replaced yesterday anyways and all bled up and working nicely. Next on the list if to fix the slightly leaky windscreen and tidy up the interior a bit more. Weather is a bit grim to be running a classic at the moment
