OH. MY. GOD. !!!!!!!!! A good friend called earlier this evening to see if I fancied a little drive out. In the Fireblade engined 7 he's currently looking after. Errrrr yeah! Fantastic! We just blatted round to the Ace to see what was on (French night) but how much fun is this car!!! They'd taken it to the Nurburgring a few weeks a go and did low 9 minute laps. The power delivery is just awesome! Sequential 6 speed gearbox (no reverse!) and a top end of around 115mph but wow it gets up to speed quick! I've been in a Caterham once before but that had a crossflow in it. Bike engines were meant for these cars! The MX-5 driver trying to impress his girlfriend on our way home certainly seemed to enjoy getting left in our wake! Twice! Ha Ha! Sorry, I know I'm going on a bit but if you ever get a chance to go in something like this grab it with both hands. Oh, and to guarantee retro content here's a couple of pics from the Ace...

That's some awesome performance for £15 when you consider what else you can buy for that sort of money. I'd love to do the twin bike engine thing in a small saloon car.

I recall being at Classics on the Common in Harpenden years ago with some mates. We were watching some of the cars leaving. A FireBlade-engined came along. Thinking of bike engines as all revs and no substance, I turned to one of them and said, "I don't understand why people would want to fit..." I was then interrupted by a screaming engine that sounded lovely, a screech of tyres and a Caterham wiggling up the road leaving long black skid marks. "Oh. I see." I'm

Yowzer!
The only caterfield things that have ever filled me with trepidation in the past have been the Westfield SEights.
Especially the non-Euro model.
It spits neat fuel at you....then the exhaust spits flames at you. :/
