OK so now my mk1 golf cab is tucked up in the garage for winter, I want to get it running on bike carbs. I know the basics and whats required to run them, but I'm not sure what set up to go for. I'm not looking to spend mega £££s on it, or looking for massive horsepower, something around 130bhp would be nice on my 1600 Kjet with a 4 branch manifold.
I want my bike carbs to have a single throttle arrangement if that makes sense, so theres no messing about with balancing them, but unsure of which bikes had this facility, I was going for zx9r carbs (which are like this) as a mate has some but they're a no-go as he's found them and they're in bits.
Also I hear of peope using either a pump from the bike that the carbs are off, but also people using facet red/silver top pumps, is there a benefit to these and which one is best for this application?
And finally I know I need a fuel pressure regulator, what pressure do I need to be running? Or is this dependant on the carbs and not the engine?
Any help is appreciated as I want to start gathering parts for this so I can get cracking before it gets too cold to consider touching my car!
