rubber ones will not really affect your height unless your springs are really soft, they are really ment for towing trailers.
The clamp ones, will resist the springing effect, i assume your ride has hard low ride as it is and ass such don't believe these are a sensible road option. i've used them on offroaders (rangeys and discos) to jack up a little at the progressive end as they are pretty much touching as soon as you fit them
Get some air filled bumpstops! should be easily adjustable with a foot pump

I wouldnt touch the clamps with a barge pole. The rubber ones have actually got me out of trouble on the back of an old 123 merc when i cut a little bit too much off. They didnt make a lot of difference but enough to stop it bottoming out everywhere.

i wouldn't touch clamps with a barge pole but i've got 2 inch rubber assisters on me P100 and they raised the front 1 3/4 inches cos the other coils squash more cos there is basily one less coil moving ( i have a diesel engine on petrol springs).

Ive been thinking about getting some of these for the front of the desoto to stiffen it up a bit, it's very VERY soft on the front but quite stiff on the back and the front end bobs about and bounces off the bump stops on a country road. Considering the compression travel is about 6" it must be bobbing up and down about 8"-10"! How much do they raise the height by? I'm going to eventually get some custom springs made, but money's tight and can't really get spending again until I sell the merc. And I really don't want to sell the merc

Hmmm... Rubber it is then.
I see ones with different measurements i.e. 25-61mm I assume this is the measurement between the coils and not the height it raises the car by?
What sort of height gains have people had with these.
Thanks again
Ross

Idealy you want the spacer to be very slightly larger than the spacing between the coils with the wheel hanging (car on a jack) some grease and force em in. What they raise it by differs depending on the type of susspension you have, struts IME they lift it somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the size you put in BUT that depends how weak the springs are to start with cos as I said the remaining coils will compress more to take up some of the coil load you have just isolated with the rubber. Wishbones it again vairys due to thier length (leveradge) and upright distance from the coil, a cortina you get between 1/4 and 1/2 the height, where as on the rear you get the full height or more, it depends weither the top and bottom arms seperate from the inner pivots (cortina rear suspension) or get closer (cortina front). Struts are more consistant when you compair the rubber size to the height it raises. It's allmost as complicated as spring rates and lowering , suck it and see, I only know what i've used them on personly the rest is a guess If you have a very long spring you can allways fit 2, i've done that for towing a nose heavy trailer before ?

I fitted a set to my Skoda pickup to counter the weight of the Truckman top.
