And Ive 'heard' the ford td in the ldv/transit is non intereferance should a cambelt go Ross Nope all interferance, the early Di's usually just bend a push rod so you hammer them straight, replace the belt and off you go the problem with the TD Di is the epic pump, basicly a lucas pump made worse (yes really they managed to make a lucas pump worse, took practise that did) with leccy gubbings that fail if you look at em funny so never EVER sneeze near one later ones are the duratorque 2.4s with a chain but they have all sorts of other problems like cams siezing tensioners colapsing ect Even early (400 as opossed to the convoy) use the 2.2/2.3 and 2.5 pug lump, basic bulluit proof but in no way good on juice, my old 400 used to return 25 on a run mind you it was perminantly at 3.4 tones as a winterised camper with all the gear, night heater, air suss, artic ambulance spec ect ect

25mpg? :/ Would like a bit more than that I would also like to steer clear of electrickery. From what I have seen the LDV rots less than the Tranny, and most of the french stuff too.

Well I'm currently roading about in a 1999 tranny van and love it. Sure its not going to win any races granted but ive had it filled to the roof with paving slabs and bricks and it went no faster or slower than normal. Mine has got a bit of rot on the bottoms of the back doors and over the front wheel arches but its liveable. The lad next door at work has an ldv pilot or cub i think it might be and you can hear him gunning the engine up the road its THAT slow, its also a bit smaller than the tranny. Id highly recommend the tranny with the banana diesel engine as they reportedly bulletproof and mine always starts with the first click of the key. Id say the only bad thing about either the tranny or ldv or any other van come to that matter is that all your mates/family/neighbours etc will want to borrow it or have you moving stuff. Its a pain in the

Go for the transit. What did you think I would say??? Reliable, if not quick. It's a commercial vehicle remember, not a saloon car. Gadgets and microchips are fine if you don't depend on the thing for work. The DI goes on and on, we had one go on for over 400,000 and all it had was cam belts and oil/filter changes.
