Imagine a good friend has asked you to help choose their retro car fleet. These are the cars they have been looking at and consider to be the obvious choice. What do you think although not the first thing most people would think of would do the job equally well if not better. For the fun the budget is 5k per car so plenty and the unknown person wants one of each of the following types. Oh and don't just post your car justify your choice The sporty oneMazda MX5 The grand tourerJaguar XJS The family fun carMorris Minor Traveller The Daily and schoolrunRange Rover. Get lpg or diesel to make it affordable to run for the mrsFiat 500 This should be fun if people are willing to put in the effort

With your permission I've altered the titles slightly to bring it into line... (and put them in line so people can copy/paste the list and work through it) The sports/weekend toy (for backlane fun) The grand tourer (for carting the family off to Gran's for the week) The family fun car (for the family days out in summer) The daily and schoolrun (what you drive most days, must have room for 2.4 kids) The other half's (for the one who doesn't like cars so you had to compromise) The sports/weekend toy (for backlane fun) The grand tourer (for carting the family off to Gran's for the week) The family fun car (for the family days out in summer) The daily and schoolrun (what you drive most days, must have room for 2.4 kids) The other half's (for the one who doesn't like cars so you had to compromise)

I have no problems with you changing the titles slightly you obviously have the idea.

Nice idea, but for those that are not part of a traditional nuclear family they are perhaps a little restrictive. That said I'd like my fleet to look like this one day: The sports/weekend toy (for backlane fun) The grand tourer (for touring the continet for a week) The classic car (for fun days out in summer) The daily (what you drive most days) But modified in a suitable awesome way. The silly long-term project (build your ultimate car)

weekend fun : something old and american like this I think (just for the noise) chevy nova grand tourer : would have to be an old jag XJ/daimler sovereign, theres something about them I absolutely love family fun car: datsun510 (love them and want one badly) daily: mitsubishi galant (not strictly retro but plenty of room and brilliant lookers) other half's car: toyota MR2 mk1 (girly car but still cool enough to make me want to drive it- not many you can say that about)

Awwwhhh no-one else want a go? I'll have another crack using the revised titles The sports/weekend toy (for backlane fun) The stag is many things but gorgeous is one of them. The grand tourer (for carting the family off to Gran's for the week) Rover P5 coupe The family fun car (for the family days out in summer) Hillman superminx drop top The daily and schoolrun (what you drive most days, must have room for 2.4 kids) mk1 cavalier The other half's (for the one who doesn't like cars so you had to compromise) Have a fiat uno. New enough not to scare the mrs but old enough to have some fun with

Sporty: '72 Ferrari Dino 246GT 'Dino'. My bedroom wall pinup car when I was a lad. If it was good enough for Tony Curtis..... Grand Tourer: 1964 Pontiac GTO. The ultimate in 60's US cool. Family Fun Car: 1959 Chevrolet Kingswood. Imagine taking this shopping. Daily: Late 70's Citroen Dyane. Because I've had one, and know how brilliant and eminently useable they are. Practical, economical, cheap to run, ALWAYS fun to drive. For SWMBO: R129-model Mercedes SL500. I know how much she actually DOES want one of these... ;D
