For diesels its a smoke test, I used to run a 306 on veg with quite a heavy tune and it went through no problems.

If your worried go for a drive use up nearly all the veg oil and give it a tank of diesel. Personally id just test and see what happens every garage ive used gives you a free retest within 10days anyway. Although they don't have to do that

Personally id just test and see what happens every garage ive used gives you a free retest within 10days anyway. Although they don't have to do that I would have to drive about 300miles to get my tank somewhere near empty. Wasn't planning on MOTing it just yet but after checking when the MOT ran out today and finding out it was sooner than I thought, I thought I better get it booked in soon. Anyway looks like I have nothing to worry about, cheers

my old merc 190 diesel stinks, i run it 100% waste veg, it smokes too, but it flew through the mot. i think smoke is smoke but not particulate smoke? The tester did comment on how much it stank though!

As some of the others have said, running it on veg should actually make the emissions/smoke cleaner. I've certainly never had a problem with MOT a vehicle running veg. My Cavalier was running 100% veg (no additives either) and on a 196,000 mile engine, passed with flying colours and very little smoke.

this subject allways gets confusing when people don't realisee there's a differance between bio and straight (new) veg oil SVO, i've found that SVO burns cleaner than bio, no idea why or if it's engine specific but my lucida hate the bio i can get localy, it knocks it's tits off on it, smokes more and it costs 12p more than SVO (when it's on special offer that is ) same with me P100, BUT i have only tried bio from one place so it could be they are producing curse word bio ?? it's a minefield, it seems to me the noisyer and smiokyer the engine (transit Di for one ) the better they like SVO and the more they dislike bio but then i have allways said older engines prefer SVO cos it's nearer the way diesel used to be when they were first designed? I can well remember transit Dis doing 40 MPG on the old diesel but as soon as the new stuff came in the got slower noisyer and lway less efficient and lots of them knackerd the pumps, so i taylor my blends to the engine, 2 stroke makes a hell of a differance to quieten noisy pumps especialy the Di and Kent 1.8 ford lump but in the lucida it makes no differance at all, you will need to experiment to find whats best for each engine IME ??

I run my 1.8td p100 on 60% diesel and 40% cooking oil (aprox) and it runs as sweet as a nut, i put to much oil in it once and it ran better than it ever did, i didnt continue to use more cooking oil because id heared stories about the lucas pumps, iv heared stories about 2t oil as well, thinking i could use it on my wifes grande cherokee, what do you do and what dos it do.

I run 60/40 in my p100 with 5ml of 2stroke per litre, TBH it just quietens the pump similar to what cooking oil does but it lubes it and the injectors as well and just generaly makes it run like a much newer engine, idles smoother and smokes less as well so i guess it help combustion ?
