Want to paint some galvinised steel (thin sheet not chassis), do I use self-etch primer then acrylic? Also I want some lettering, do I spray the lettering coulour (light colour) mask out the letters then spray the main (dark) colour? Or just buy some custom vinyl stickers  This is all painting from rattle cans. Mark |

You could get a vinyl mask made, kind of the negative from the vinyl letters.

Id paint the metal the colour you want the letters to be first stick the letters on then paint the final colour over the top peal the letters off flat the whole thing then clear coat . This will give the best finish and the letters won't come of over time

I was goping to do the lettering the "traditional" way with masking tape. Should you peel the tape (or letters as above) off when the paint is wet or dry.
Really I should just experiment, best way to learn.
