Hi all
Does anyone know iof there any specific rules to be aware of regarding hazard warning lights at MOT time?
The Carlton has failed the MOT - kept blowing a fuse that site on the hazards/radio/clock/interior light circuit. MOT fail due to hazards.
We think its a borked switch - its lost a contact somehow (may have fused though it) and a replacement is unobtainable.
Does the Switch need an LED light for MOT time?
Looking at the switch, there are 5 connections in constant contact, and 3 activated upon the switch catching. If I permantly wire the 5, and add a push switch for the other 3, would this work, and would this fail the MOT because there is no ON light on the switch?
pulling hair out :-(
cheers
Tim

Works here!
Yeah, it's a carlton switch, which apparently is the same as a Lotus Elan switch. It's 31 euros on that site.

I've never had my hazards checked at an mot :? How old is your car? Can't remember the exact years but certainlly early 70s car do not need them for the MOT. However if they are fitted they should be in working order.

MOT place believe hazards are a fail - they spent a day trying to fix wiring, and failed, so didnt charge me - I don't think they are scouting for work. Auto electrician has found the short - in the roof lining between the front and rear courtesy lights Need to pay for a new MOT though as couldnt source parts/fix problem in the 10 working day window. Botheration! Bet they fail it on somethig else now.
