Bah.....anyone know about these ?? I bought the right tool to do them and promptly broke it...... any tips or suggestions greatly received... and heres a pic.....looks placid doesn't it.......it wasn't.....

These clips are bl00dy awful....I always reuse the old ones if possible as they aren't as tight! I've never used a special tool, but tied rope through the hole and lugged like hell on it after hooking the top of the clip over the manifold flange.

Have heard people use a exhaust clamp with the nuts fitted to the 'U' first, then the bracket... placed inside the clip.
Personally I would rather just change the manifold and downpipe to the 6-stud type! (better flow too)

those u clips are an absolute nightmare, i tried for 2 days to fit one, gave up and took it to the local exhaust chappy. 5 quid well spent ;D ;D

I've got the tool now but in all honesty it doesn't make it much easier. Long screwdrivers, hammers, safety goggles and g-clamps usually feature when I do them. I DO NOT enjoy it ;D

Had these on a Mk2 1.6 once and gave up trying to fasten them, took car to local exhaust place and the guy seemed to sort it in 5 mins. Clearly there is a secret technique required! ;D

GRRRR, I'm actually so curse word off with it, i've moved onto a different area to sort out, off to Reading tomorrow eveing to get some fatter wheels for it ( yes, that'll do ignore the problem ) The vehicle in question is in fact the green one in the pics, NOT the pleasent gold one in the pic.... and Mr Autohaus....i have the same sort of van as your last two... you might JUST be able to see a little bluw peek behind the goldmember.....
