This may seem a little odd, but I have a desire to use an airbox in the opposite direction from intended (i.e. the air intake side will become the outlet and vice versa) - will the air still flow through the filter ok?
I suspect it will as it's just a cylindrical paper filter, but thought I'd ask first as there is plenty'o'knowledge on here!
Cheers, Martin

Is there a reason why you have to do this? The filter should work fine in either direction, but depending on the shape of the airbox and its entrance and exit, you may be increasing the restriction of the airbox. The shapes which work well for airflow in one direction do not necessarily work as well the other way!

Yeah, there is always a reason!! The normal V8 Landrover airbox for my Disco looks like this with a trumpet at one end and the exit to the AFM at the other: The airbox I have is from a n other Disco (scrapyard find!) and looks like this - Now, the pipe on the side on the Disco I took it off went to the engine side and the other end was the air intake, but I want to use the 'side' pipe for a snorkel and hence will be reversing the snow!

So, I take it that your air cleaner is a big round can, with a cylindrical paper filter in it. The normal inlet pipe feeds into the bottom of the filter and the outlet takes from the side of it.
The only problem that I can see with reversing the direction of flow is that your air cleaner housing will fill up with dust/dirt and need to be shaken/vacuumed out at service intervals, rather than catching it all in the filter itself. There's nothing fancy going on with flow so you shouldn't upset it too much.
