Hi guys, i need some advice and ideas, basically my mig welder has stopped pumping out the gas, now it cant be the lack of gas as its a massive bottle and relatively new. it was working fine the other night, and this afternoon. then i switched it off for a couple of minutes. and when i turned it back on, when i pull the trigger wire feeds through perfect but no gas. i disasembled the handle/trigger and had a good old jiggle and poke about when i put it back togetgher. some gas came through again like it should but that only lasted for about 30seconds and now as it stands now. gas wont come through. and to keep it retro. i was trying to weld this car

just to check its not the cylinder have you removed the reg and cracked the knob just to purge swiftly? might have a reg leak if you've left the gas on aside from that,is the trigger working ok to run the wire feed?

I remember this car being posted a while ago. However, it looks like it could make children cry and mothers hurry them indoors.

yeh its my mate mikes who got in trouble in his p100.
its ridiculously low so we were intending on welding up some better brackets to provide a stronger mount for his sump guard. and then weld the inner arches at the rear back to the outer arch, basically achieved sod all cos of the welder.
right i will try all this regulator checking business in the morning. despite owning a welder and being vaguely able to operated one, i know sod all about fixing them. so if its something stupid and obvious then don't laugh too much.
and for mr penski details. well its an e28 as you can see. was a 520 is now a 535. cut springs all round, spax adjustable dampers, but the 2 at the back are buggered so he is saving up for coilover rears. everything stripped out. just a dash binnacle, ductaped to the column, buckets and harnesses no actual dashboard in there.
rattle can satin black obviously. spare wheel well removed for weight saving. rear strut brace welded to the turrets runroof removed and a plate riveted over polybushes there isnt anything too unsuprising on the car its a budget build think it owes him about £2k or something. i had a quick go in it the other day before the bumper got ripped off going over a blade of grass. it feels pretty damn quick.

if the gas is coming out of the bottle, take the cover of the welder and follow the pipe into the back it should go to a solenoid valve this should click when you flick the trigger and allow the gas through this might not be working properly if it does click check the gas is going through it,it might be blocked you will need to take the pipe off the outlet side.
