I was moderately sure the Datsun panel while curved is flat where the lights actually sit so you should be able to just cut a suitable hole. Having seen the proposed car they'd go on, the vertical curve would compliment the destination panel nicely too. Ratdat will know better, of course. Yes, the panel is slightly V shaped behind the lights. Not impossible to get round though. I'll have a look and see what other lighhts I have in the shed as there's a fair few.

Pandaselecta - that's a '79 which is a facelifted version and I'm not sure they would be a direct fit. And for $100 + shipping the pair I'd be as well to buy the '78 model lights. I found some on eBay but again $49.99 each side. Be about $60 postage usually on a pair of rear lights so I've found lately. +VAT +duty +carrier collection fee. Could be best part of ÂŁ150 for a pair of rear lights end of the day...
Ouch.

I'd keep the individual round lights, if you can't get the originals then Lucas round beehive lights would work, like early mini indicators, or the flatter ones, part number 488, they look better IMO. I think a square type design would look a bit strange, but whatever floats your boat!

I've got some late Datsun 1000 tail lights. They have a very slight curve along their length (maybe 5mm) but I reckon they would bolt down virtually flat if need be. they are about 3.5" tall by 16" wide....

My first thought was the tiny slitty ones off the back of a 60's Vauxhall estate.
Can't remember what model - might be a Victor.
