I'm after a pick up truck, just to deck on wheels,. i don't need it for work, i will ocassionally put my motorbikes in the back to go to shows or track days, every quote i'm pulling up is absolutely ludicrous, i know insurance has gone up, but these are all van companies which will cover me for carrying dangers goods, going on sites etc, surly they realise pick ups can be used just for looking good

The only company that would insure my fiancee on her 4x4 pickup for social domestic and pleasure was Adrian Flux, she does have some claims and 6 points though so her insurance is a pain.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

most companies will insure it BUT you have to speak to someone not on line quotes my escort van was with adrian flux as a second verchile as i used to have my 2 alsastion dogs in it (save them ruining the family car ) & when i was younger we had a transit van for my crosser & I'm sure a mate has a recovery truck for his track car on personel use (not for hire or reward) & another mate runs a toyota pick up ( carries his falcon/hawk/ferrets) you just need to prove why you would need one if not for work really

Adrian flux will do it and mirror your NCB, I had my caddy van with them, £350 fpft limited mileage Thats only last year to. You have to speak to them though, go on there site and get them to call you back if you only have a mobile

my brother was having the same sort of problems. Have a look on the T4T5 VW forum seem to remember there being a insurance thread on there. Not sure if cheapest but do remember nFU being mentioned.

I've recently bought a peugeot Expert van and am also shocked at insurance premium compared to my other cars. My insurer, NFU, is normally very good but they said not possible to have a domestic use only van policy with them. I'm planning on converting to a camper so it'll have winbdows, rear seating etc and therefore type will be change at DVLA. Insurer says when that happens they can then transfer me to a cheaper policy. Might, therefore , be worth looking for a mini bus / camper and stripping out the interior ?

my escort van's insured with autonetinsurance.co.uk i'm paying about £350, it's on a commercial policy so you don't get some of the advantages of a car policy ( I can't drive other cars on my policy even though it's fully comp). The same company quoted me nearly £200 more to change to a Nissan Primera car. The only other problem is to change to a car I've got to stop this policy and start again hope this helps.

My Kangoo van is with Direct Line and it wasn't any dearer than the Corsa I ran before it. I'll be shopping around come renewal time though just to see if I can get it cheaper
