Ouch!! I knew the corners were rusty, but I wouldn't have thought there was so much surface rust behind that doorskin! Please tell us more about your evil plans for the car, I'm excited now  As you already know, I think that what defines this car is the faded paint on the bonnet/roof/bootlid combo, and keeping that would make the car stand out! Also it would mean you don't have to straighten that slightly dented bonnet, and paint everything, and people in the street aren't tempted to nick the car because they think it's just a tired old heap. Which it kinda was.  |

Hi! I made a decision......the 4 door has to be a 2 door! In my eyes the rear doors on the 4 door destroy the fantastic lines of the cortina.And the C-pillar looks a lot better on 2 door cars ,too. To fit the longer doors with the new doorskinns i have to cut out the b-pillar first. After some adjustments at the door hinges it looks like that..  Now the right door is ready for the new doorskinn.  stripping......   Sorry, Clement!!!But i think in the end you will enjoy it. Thanks for looking.... |

Hi! The Dash is the same on both cars.But i have to change the whole roof because of the different C-pillar.And some part of the rear quarters..... Today i drill out the B-pillar on the right side..  ...i'm still not happy withe the doorgaps.....after endless play with the hinges it looks not too bad...  ...but i think on the upper edge i have to weld on a piece of metall.  my skills with this kind of metall-work are limited....my name is not OLDBUS Cheers |

Very dramatic change! Will be interesting to see the roof swap, though the overall 2-door outline didn't look too different from 4, I can't remember seeing the two side-by-side.
I must admit I was tempted to graft a small portion of mk3 Cortina roof to one for a dramatically raked rear windscreen and a proper Coupé roofline inspired by the Saxon concept and Consul Capri. Though that would be an even more radical concept.

Hi! I was busy with the doorskinn for the right door at the weekend Both doors are ready for the 2door conversation now. Today i cut of the roof of the 2door    There it is!   That's left ....   ....but it was to far gone anyway   Now i can prep the roof easy. Thanks for looking... Cheers |

Tach! Today i start with removing old metall and straighten up the flanges...   Some dressing with the anglegrinder......  To give the new roof the strenght on the new shell i will weld it to the factory points.But that's a lot of work Remove parts of the old sill from the quarters....  After cleaning.....  Don't look too bad but for sure i will renew the lower edge. Next was to remove the bitumen sound deadening on the roof....there's even rust below. In the factory they glue the bitumen on the shell befor painting....there is naked sheed metall under  ...but ok...its 50years ago  More to follow..... Cheers |
