Hey Thorsten - glad this is now on the build plan. Dave had told me it was 'rough' - but I didn't think it was this bad.......
Can't wait for it to turn out as well as the Escorts have.... good luck!

Ouch there is some rust! Here's the club's website: www.mk1cortina.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1They have an extensive range of parts, including various panels and soon front wings. These can cost over £700 alone... There is a forum as well, and some of those guys seem to know quite a lot about the model Glad to see you'll restoring this one, especially after having avidly followed other restos of yours!! I'd love to help out if I can edit: So are you keeping it original or swapping/modifying it? Btw mine is very rusty in the lower right-hand rear corner as well, the panel costs £50 at the club (+delivery).

Hi! Yes,it is rope to close the right door...... .....the door-locks are seized! The car was stored since 1989 in unknown conditions but it must be very dampy........ Thanks for the Cortina Owners club -link.....I'm in the Club since last year! Was on the National Show at Stratford to pick up some Panels ....a 2000km trip with the Taunus Transit Great show! I think i have now all panels that i need.....even a OEM right wing. I looking for a left wing.... The plan for the car is simple:Very Clean, low ,Banded Steels. Inside:Benchseat&Columchange has to stay(Love it)black carpet and leather The gearbox and the 1500 precrosser has to stay, too.Maybe upgrade to GT spec. In the meantime i rip the engine out.... Under lots of filler:Can i rescue that Wing?.......NO The wheels are always banded.... Stripping inside...a real mess Thanks for looking Cheers

This one will be more interesting, because there are no parts.
Clean style sounds good.

I gotta say that my ultimate Mk1 Corty would be a pre-aeroflow 2-door with a bench and column shift. These must be pretty rare in mainland Europe.

Love the pre-aeroflow light/horn stalk with that airfoil shape, & the simpler grille. Though must admit to liking the later dash with the little "rocketship" vents. Bench seat in a 2-door doesn't sound quite so practical but definitely stands out as different. Loosing the upper-spec two-tone blue interior trim scheme? I love the old metallic blue vinyl detail & surrounding chrome trim of the door lining but wonder at the incongruous "wood" on the instrument cluster.. Not very early '60's spaceage like the be-finned rear.

I have a feeling this is going to turn out very nice. Love the Mk 1's shape, especially in two door form, you're collecting quite a Ford fleet there Capri next?

thanks for the offer of your anglegrinder-fleet.... ;D Indeed ,it was hard to find a pre Aeroflow LHD 2door....and for me it has to be an pre Aeroflow .The front is much nicer than the later one. For the next time there is no need for another car in the "Fleet"....i'm simple running out of space..... But......if i can get a Taunus Transit twincab....... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ....there is only 1(one!!!) left....... Cheers

Treading a fine line between bravery and stupidity restoring this one I think! They are a very nice looking car though so it should be well worth it in the end.

This is going to be good. Best news is it looks like you're the first person to weld it - you don't have to undo earlier bodges.
