I'm on the brink of Retro ownership and if it works out I'll be the happy owner of a 70's 3 box saloon. Now then, I've always craved a 2 door version of the car, however the model in question is a 4 door. As the ex owner of a 5 door MK2 Golf GTI I was always tarnished with the stigma that those two extra doors somehow detracted from the Golf's sporting kudos. Help me to overcome this stupid (surprise surprise GTI fan's) discrimination and show me pics of modded 4 door 70's saloons. Here is some ass kissing inspiration:

Okay so it's not 70s, but this was my car of the show at GTi International 3/4? yrs ago... I really, really like it and it just goes to show 4-drs can work. Have faith and just do it. A booted shape will always work with a healthy slam and the right rims...

I know that Golf - it used to be red and was driven hard everywhere - as it should be. Agreed, it looks hard as nails. My Golf was white and had 5 doors, I got such a ribbing from the haters boo ho.

I told MsR's dad i was getting a 3 door or 2 door daily a few years ago, went to get a 3 door 306 came back with a 4 door sapphire, not only was it cheaper at half price it was twice as good IMO. He pointed out there was two things stuck on the back! ;D Never been keen on 5 door golfs Mk2 and 3 though, some cars work some don't, saloons from the 70's and 80's generally do, although ironically i'm not keen on 4 door mk3-5 Cortinas or mk1 granadas! Do it!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Excellent steels on that Viva - they look like Lancia Beta wheels. (Why do I know that off the top of my head !!)

Four door saloons work, five door hatches don't!

My 100E was a 4 door. The only difference between it and the 2-door counterparts was that my mates could all bundle into the back which they would struggle to do in a 2-door. Yes, you can get 5 blokes in a lowered 100E, my cherry bomb went keeeeeeercccchhhhhhhhhing when I turned left, but it can be done
