Prior to starting the body repairs to my '74 LWB I read a couple of XJ rebuild stories (Practical Classics blue Series 1 & Kelsey Publishing red Daimler coupe) and they both mentioned 'no floorpans are available for the SWB models so you need to cut LWB ones down to suit' which they duly did
I noticed on my car tho that there is a panel between the ribbed floorpan and rear seat which is about the same width as the bit that gets cut out a LWB floorpan to fit it to a SWB. Do the SWB cars have this panel?
longitudinal panel between ribbed floorpan and seat upright. is this what Jaguar did to make the cars longer instead of producing new floorpans?
The pictures aren't great in the yellow book that details the Daimler rebuild but it looks like the ribbed floorpan edge was taken right up to the seat area suggesting there was no equivalent spacer panel on the SWB models.
Anyone know?
NB the panel does not show in the Parts List althogh it does show different floorpans for SWB & LWB models.
