Hi all, i am currently making a scale model of my car and i am thinking about my paint for the scale and the real version (mid-way through the actual build in garage, no way near bodywork and paint). So anyway i want like a dark silver colour like ford sierra flint grey or ford graphite grey, can any of you reccommend any nice dark grey colours???
Cheers.

Audi Nimbus Grey is an awesome colour. It looks like a base grey but it's actually a very subtle metallic ^^ That was my favourite grey until the other day when I saw a new Seat (Ibiza/Cupra/Leon??) in a dark grey similar to Nimbus, but dare I say, even nicer! I've yet to find out the name of the colour but I certainly will at some point.

Found it: Seat Furia Grey I'm thinking one of my future projects may have to be this colour.

Peugeot Gunmetal grey Maserati/Ferrari/Alfa had some awesome greys aswell - how do I know this?? I used to work in Halfords and was taught to mix paint, behind the parts desk are three massive ring binders full of colour charts/swatches you'll find some awesome paints in those books and they should be able to mix up a small can for you for a few quid (prices probably gone up since i was there 5 + yrs ago!!) I got a bit of a bollocking once for mixing up Alfa Nouvola Blue because I charged normal price but it used the flip paint special paints to make it ;D

Audi Nimbus Grey Seat Furia Grey A big YES. I've seen both in the flesh, both look great. The Seat I've seen in that colour seems to need cleaned a lot. Can't really explain why but it needs a decent shine to it.

This is the colour i was sort of looking for, this is my photoshop i have done and how i want my minor to look. i was originally going to do matt black but its getting abit common on minors i think. so now i just want a darkish glossy grey colour. BTW ignore the wheels as i hate them...

Dark metallics (especially black or very dark grey) are going to cost you more than flat solid paint. For this reason my 'perfect' dark grey was a period colour to that I found was an early Jaguar colour called battleship grey. I'd say Yukon grey on the mini above is the nearest BMC shade to your photoshop. I was looking to do something similar and bored the wife for months pointing out shades of grey but in the end decided to go for a lighter colour (BMC Flint grey) as it's a bit more forgiving with any imperfections and looks like these i52.tinypic.com/333xrgi.jpgi25.photobucket.com/albums/c72/jackchevelle/Billing%2011/DSCF3629.jpgI like the Xpower Chernobyl Green.

Can I also ignore those words on the fender? If you must, I personally like it. And i do really like the Beemer colour, that is very nice. doesnt really have to be a period colour as I'm not too fussed about being period correct (if i was id probably stick to an a-series )
