Sorry about his but I'm 'kin angry!!!
At the end of June, some plank crashed into my Audi by pulling out of the second exit on a roundabout whilst I was turning right exiting on the third exit.
We exchanged details, and I reported it to my Insurers to make a claim against him.
Fast Fwd to today, heard absolutely nothing from said Insurers, so gave them a call to chase up.
"We can't find his registration on any Insurance database, and he's not answering any phone calls or letters."
curse word.
It's safe to say he's not insured, so I think "Sod this, the only comeback I'll get is reporting him for being uninsured"
Cue phone call to the Old Bill, gave them the story, this is what happened next...
Old Bill "Oh, there's probably not much we can do, accidents need to be reported within 24 hours of them happening"
Me "But accidents when you exchange details and no-one is hurt don't need to be reported?"
OB "Yes, that's right, but now you want to report him for being without insurance, so its a reported accident"
Me "I wouldnt have know he was uninsured at the time"
OB "Yes"
ME "?, surely I can just report him as driving without insurance?"
OB "Well sir, you don't know he is right now"
Me "Well, he wasnt at the time, so its a safe bet he still is!"
OB "The only thing you can do is go to your local Police Station and report the accident and that you think he wasn't insured. You'll need to take your Photo Driving Licence, Counterpart, Insurance Certificate and MOT and make a full report"
Me "Hang on, my details are fine, why do you need them, I'm reporting someone else?"
OB "Thats the way to report an accident, sir"
Me "and if you decide its been too long? (seeing that 7 weeks is a tad more than the 24 hour limit!)"
OB "Then there's nothing we can do, sir"
Me "How helpful, goodbye!"
I bet if I phoned up Crimestoppers anonamously, they'd be round like a shot!
I don't know why I bother paying my tax!!!!
