Hello,
My AX will not start and I am having problems finding any useful websites that might help. I think the engine may have been used in other PSA cars such as Peugeot.
So does anybody know what cars the engines were shared with? Mine is a 1124cc 1991 single point injection Magneti Marreli ECU petrol.
Any websites would be good.
It turns over but there is no spark. I can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when I turn the ignition on (this is normal) so I do not think it is fuel related.
Fortunately I can survive with just my bike until its fixed.
Thanks
John

John Your engine is the 1.1 version of the good old Peugeot/Citroen Tu motor, itself a development of the XY series, which was developed out of he old coventry climax motor!! OK enough history. pop along to the peugeot forums at www.clubpeugeotuk.org as the motor is common to many many pugs so the fault will be generic. You could also try visiting the french car forums at GSF - www.gsfcarparts.com/forum/default.asp?CAT_ID=1

www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/Is the best discussion place for Frenchies, it was the former Andyspares forum before GSF had a paddy on and pulled the plug. No spark, trace it back to the coil pack, if its Sagem they are rubbish. The TU motor can be found in 106 205->88 206 207 405 PARTNER AX BX->88 SAXO BERLINGO

If the distributor is also made by Marelli then a very common fault is for the wires inside to break. Common fault on Fiat Fire engines too as fitted to the Panda,Uno, ect.

Thanks for the advice and websites.
I have done a bit of diagnostics. There is definetly fuel, I can here the fuel pump and fuel in the pipes at the engine.
I connected a test bulb to the main live to the coil. It worked for the first 5 seconds while the fuel pump ran, then when the fuel pump stopped (as it normally does) the bulb goes out.
I will test the coil but if the coil is "gone" then isnt it unlikely that both will go at once and I will still have sparks to 2 cyclinders?
