coming home from work my mx5 overheated. the blowers went from hot to cold, so i popped the bonnet and found a temp switch which controls the rad fan is bust (although it could have been me who bust it, trying to pull the connector off) saing that though it looked to have a dry solder joint.
anyhow, i'm not certain that this was the main fault, as the other day the temp went up, but then it sorted itself out, so i'm also thinking the thermostat could be at fault. I've tested it in boiling water and it does open, perhaps 7-8mm, is this normal or should it open more?
