Service book stamped up to 40k and then stacks and stacks of bills going back over the years showing this car has been well looked after.
In the last month Autolink Mazda Mx5 specialists undertook the following on the car:
Fitted new rear pads
Brakes and handbrake adjusted
Fitted new wiper blades
Passenger side rear sill cut out and a new metal welded in place and then fully corrosion protected (proper job, not just plating up! Area confined to within black strip and so very tidy.)
Couple of new bulbs
Headlights aligned.
Used Panasonic battery (recommended item that is one of the few batterys that fit the car).
New front number plate.
In the last 10 months (approx 10,000 miles) the following has also been carried out/fitted on the car:
New Exedy Clutch, clutch release bearing, spigot bearing and gearbox oil (Car has covered less than 500 miles since all this was changed!)
New diff oil
New Rokkor Coilovers fitted and adjusted so wishbones are flat to ensure great handling. These have been used for less than 6,000 miles. (Whilst suspension was changed all suspension bolts touched were copper greased)
4 wheel alignment by WIM (Wheels in Motion - google them to understand they are one of the best for setting up Mx5's!)
New front alignment bolts
Mx5 Parts Silenced Decat pipe. (Quality item, barely any louder but does allow the odd pop and bang on overrun and feels as though it allows the car to rev more freely.) Car comes with CAT for MOT puposes.
New NGK spark plugs
New HT leads
New fuel filter
Oil changed x2 (in 10,000 miles)
New oil filter
New air filter
New front disks
New rear disks
2 x New rear brake calipers
New rear wheel bearing
New rubber gear gaitors and oil (common problem!)
New bolt in drivers side mirror due to original snapping ( common problem!)
Fog light wired into one of rear reversing lights (passed mot, legal, stops unsightly fog light hanging down from rear of car)
I feel I may have forgotten a couple of things, Ill add them if I remember!
Bad Points:
Hole in bottom (where black strip is) off drivers external front wing. Inner wing completely solid, dirt and muck had collected here and when I inspected this area I scraped lots of it out and found this had corroded the outer wing. s/h wings are for sale on here and forum at 40 pounds and under or got to a Mx5 specialist and find one for 70ish.
Have just started to hear the drivers side rear wheel bearing.
Tiny bubble round base of aerial.
Rear exhaust has started knocking on rear brace bar (exhaust in very good condition still.)
Other minor scuffs and marks in line with age and mileage of car, worst of which can be seen in pictures.
Minor wear to drivers seat bolster.
Overall I would describe the car as in a good tidy condition. In my ownership I have regularly cleaned the car and ensured the drain holes for the sills/roof have always been cleared and that the inner lip of the arches are always clean. This has ensured that the arches exhibit no rust whatsoever. The rust that did present itself in the passenger rear sill was actually from the outside in (very rare I know) and all rust metal was cut out and all new metal welded in place. The drivers side rear sill is in a very good condition and very solid. It does exhibit the most minor signs of surface corrosion but I must emphasise that this is surface and minimal and all of the black strip that runs along this section is intact and tidy. I would go as far as to say that the bodywork is 99% rust free.
The car has been regularly polished and is a deep shade of the Mx5 classic red.
I have a bill showing the roof was changed in 2007. This remains in a very good condition with no rips or tears including the rear window. Has all the attachements/bolts ready to fit a hardtop.
Tyres on the front are Falken 912's and on the back Sunny somethings. Rears are Two thirds worn and fronts are just a tad more than this.
Everything works on this car and the heaters are so powerful they allow for the car to be driven roof down even in the snow!
I am exceptionally sorry to be selling this car. I bought it for some fun after driving a diesel for a year and that it definately was. Now unfortunately it dosent fit the bill and for commuting up and down the motorway everyday, visiting clients, conducting site visits, carrying ladders all whislt wearing a suit etc means the Mx5 isnt really suitable anymore. When I can afford a second car then ill have another one. You will see from viewing all the parts I have had changed that I am an enthusiast and I have looked after the car as well as I can. The car is a 1.8 and I feel this gives a good useable amount of additional torque and power over the 1.6 whilst doing reasonable MPG.
Also available seperately for a small sum is an Eunos import rear number plate panel if you would prefer this over the Uk car look.
Car is reliable and will be missed. Please email, text or ring me with any questions - Tel: 07827778465.
Car is available from Sunday 8th October.
