Yep, 156 is very nicely styled, I much prefer it to the new blander replacement.
OK so its not retro but is hella better than any alternative Euro boite.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I really like the styling of the 156, and they're a nice drive too! Does it have those funky red LED display type thingies on the dash centre console?
Good luck finding another 75! Have you considered anything else for your next retro, should a good 75 not come up?

Have you considered anything else for your next retro, should a good 75 not come up? yes to the funky red LEDs. I've still got the spider (which failed its MOT on the rear Diff) so hence the rush to find another motor. So not in a rush to find a 75. The 75 sat nicely between the spider & a newer car, so any 75 replacement would have to do the same...............early 90's retro, economical to run, RWD, 4 seater, fast.

156s are wonderful cars. My wife bought one last year - it's covered 115k miles in total, 15k in our hands. So far, the only costs have been tyres, brake pads and an aircon pipe / recharge.
They're *almost* getting retro, as early ones are now nearly 10 years old...... nice to see you got the favoured pre-facelift version which looks more 'pure' than the 159-alike later model.
Much as I like the 156, I prefer the 75 as a drivers car, which is why I've kept it.
Good luck with the search, but good 75s are rare these days - took me months to find mine - it's 'good' but not anything special.
If you find one with a dodgy gearbox, I have 2 in the back of my garage waiting to be stripped for parts to build a good one!

Not a bad replacement as it goes. I don't think me announcing that I am selling up the Sunny for a new Almera has the same prestige....
There's a neat write up on the 75 in the 9th of August (last weeks) issue of Autocar. They sing its praises too.
