I have had my 316i a while and it is my first delve into the e30 world. Its been ultra reliable and has many new parts in the time I have had it.It does me fine all day every day but I just fancy something bigger engined ie 320i or why.(must be pre 91) My car is a 90(h) 316i auto 2dr 98k miles and is in glacier blue its taxed and moted and also has good history,Its very tidy for age but does have the odd age related mark (pass rear arch has poor repair).Interior is unmarked and is very clean. It has e/w/roof etc and also has remote c/locking/alarm. Things I have done to it in the time I have owned it lowered 60/40 sony mask 10 disc changer & remote vibe front speakers(sound great) 15" bbs(only 1 cap tho) new steering rack new battery new prop centre bearing and guibo all red rear lights clear front and side indi's Things it needs indicator stalk does not cancel(have to manually click off) heater matrix bypassed(unsure of problem but have new one to pick up from indy and has always ran fine since I have owned it) If this had a bigger engine I would gladly keep it,I just miss the power as I had a mk2 golf 16v on 40's before this.It is generally a good car and will be missed. please pm or why 07512 591 069

Just my opinion, I'd swap an M42 318is engine into it. It's a like for like swap (you would need an IS exhaust) and would give you 140bhp, which is more than enough. I really wouldn't bother going for a 320i over this car, especially given how good this one looks!

That's lovely. Swap it for my E30 320i... (just kidding).
I bought mine a few months ago to put an M52 engine in. There's a whole host of info E30zone about the conversion. It doesn't look too difficult. My conversion may not happen due to too many projects, so I might chop it in for something else.

That shell looks amazing! Definitely go for the engine swap. Stuck an m42 into my 318 and it's a pretty simple swap (first one I've ever done). But if you've got the cash, I'd go all out and do an m52 swap. As said, lots of info and help (and a little bitchyness) on e30zone.net

I've got a 320 tourer in the shed, full running order. I'm going to remove the engine and box eventually but i might get my into gear if the right money comes along

If you can do VWs you can do BMWs. Loads of room to work with and you bolt the IS engine right up to the existing gearbox. It's essentially a like for like swap but I would stick an IS exhaust system on it as the IS uses a different exhaust manifold, again this is all bolt up stuff. In comparison I'm just finishing an M20 2.5 to M30 3.5 swap in my E30 touring and can't believe how easy it has been. I had an E30 318is for years and it was hands down the best car I've ever had, and I've had a lot. The engines are fantastic, rev hard and if the timing tensioner is swapped when its supposed to be swapped, they are virtually bombproof. I stupidly sold my 318is and it got smashed up drifting . The only E30s I would bother with out of the box are the 318is and 325i, and I would take a 318is over a 325i - I've owned both.

325 steel block lump from any tatty E36 is all that needs plenty of power for now and 230 bhp na with few mods or you can go for turbo route and get easy 350 bhp,buy a rotten E36 break it for what you want and sell the rest of the parts to drifters you will make some cash and get a free engine swap.
