I might aswell translate the ad:
Newly rebuilt with lots of new parts and a fast road cam. Goes like stink, can be tested in car. Price depending on spec, from £1,266.28 - £4,220.92 (penski) This is a really rare engine, so if you want to be different, check your funds:)
The engine's got a new Risse oil-pump, timing chain, water pump, lots of nuts'n'bolts. Valves/valve seats three angle grinded(?), Enem 288degree camshaft, Knoblock 45mm throttlebodies Porsche 250ccm injectors
Will sell complete with mapped Electromotive Tec3R, but can also deliver it with the original EFI with polished plenum.
197PS/285NM - with above mods, guesstimate of 230PS.

63bhp/litre with (limited) head mods and decent induction? Doesn't seem like a lot? Not for £4k anyway...

Well, he estimates around 230 hp as it is now, nothing is adjusted, the throttlebodies and injection systen is just hooked up, and not tuned I can send him a word if anyone`s interested, oh, and i should probably tip him about the site. Oh, and the replacement for the engine is a Lotus twinturbo ;D Well, thats what i heard anyway..

Remember guys, this is Norway. Where a stock XE can fetch up to 8-900£, and stock LET's go for around 2100£. Even the old all-iron carlton 2.4i engine tend to go for silly money.
Bah. /rant

*Fills up crate with XE and other Vauxhall engines and sends to Norway for profit* Nope - Sell a complete car Senator 24V (Ex Polac) loaded up with 1 x C30SE Engines and 2 x Getrag 265 boxes Drive it to Newcastle (Ferry to Norway) Have chap from Norway meet greet collect and pay for said items and drive it onto the ferry and off the other side to be distributed accordingly Do the same with a Vauxhall Cavalier with a redtop lump and two more complete engines in the Boot for a very nice profit The Killer is the tax they pay if you deliver the parts by conventional means - however they (Customs) don't bat an eyelid at an english plated car coming over for a "Holiday" Not sure how often you could get away with it tho!!!

So whats it worth bearing in mind you can't use the car after it arrives in Norway port as it's a RHD You've got to have the space and time to strip the car down and sell of the parts so you'd need a market for more than just the engine to turn a reasonable profit both ends!!!

how come you cant use the car after it arrives in norway just cos its rhd? Well I think you can but then it gets all complicated and Tax/Duty is required for it to be registered and it is at a horendous rate so not viable!!! Most of the LHD Lotus Carltons that have ended up in norway are the UK equivilents of "Ringers" I'm pretty sure that it goes like this They take a Std Norwegian Omega (Carlton) 2.0 GL 8V and it's identity tags Obtain complete Lotus Omega (Carlton) from Germany and import for parts only paying minimal duty Taking rear wing or any other major welded on body panel from 2.0 and graft onto Lotus Omega along with all VIN tags and identity Update norwegian authorities with heart transplant details Voila lotus omega registered in Norway with minimal tax NOTE..... I think this is how they do it but I'm sure someone from Norway will confirm I've got it totally wrong!!!

Thinking of using the engine myself, as buying a complete cali is cheaper than the engine itself, then there's always someone who needs a leather interior/gearbox/uprights/brakes etc.. As for using it on the road, the taxes are a curse word, like you said. And you were absolutely correct about the Lotus Omega ordeal. They welded the trunk of a 2.0 onto the Lotus, and voila! But I believe it can't be done anymore tho.

You can register RHD cars over there as a friend of mine imports various J machinery there such as Sunny GTiR's and they are all RHD. I wondered why he was so keen on importing those as here they aren't worth much now here. That's until I saw what they fetch there ...from 80,000kr right up to near 200,000kr!!
