Can anybody out there throw some ideas at this? My mates '84 Capri will rev freely standing still, but under load will not rev past 3500rpm. We have already changed, leads, distributor cap and rotor, fuel pump and ignition module, nothing made any difference. I know it's a bit cheeky asking for help on behalf of some-one who isn't on the forum, but I did drag him to the gathering this year, one day I'll get him on here.

Fuel supply? Might be as simple as a clogged fuel filter or perhaps a knackered pump. K-jet doesn't work well when the fuel pressure falls....

How clean is your metering head flap? A dirty/sticking item will not do you any favours.

Just had the same problem with a 2.8i . a change / clean of injecters made a bit of difference but fitting another warm up regulator made the most. needs setting up but getting there.

I had this on my 2.8 xr4x4 sierra, it's the dizzy itself that's the problem the bop weights inside are not advancing the ignition as the revs climb while on load. I changed mine for a 2.3 one they are all the same on the cologn engine and it cured it straight away.
