	Yes, yes I know.... google! I can find loads of info, but non that actually helps me. Basically I'm aware (for 80's/90's) BMWs there are small, medium and large case diffs. I've got a E34 535 with what I've been told is a large case diff, it's definitely got an LSD. However I'm not really a big fan of them and I'm after an open diff to weld up. GR8 4 reverse parking Y0! Anyway which ones came with large case diff? Do/can E39 diff fit? RobOr has already said I should stay away from 540 diff as these tend to be very tall geared. Thanks Robin

	Me again . www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/Recipe.htm Really I would be sticking with 3.5 M30 engined cars (E34/E32), manuals are 3.46 ratio, autos are 3.91. 540i are seriously tall at under 3.0, avoid! I think E28 535i are large case too, but the casing is physically different and you'd have to swap diff internals - not a nice job. Again I don't know about E38/E39 but I would assume the cases are different and the ratios would still be terrible. After the 3.5 engines it seemed that the diff ratios went very tall. The cars with compatible large case diffs are E32/E34 - 535i, 540i, 735i, 740i. The 3L V8 530i doesn't have a large case, but I don't know about 3L M30. I'd just be sticking with 3.5 diff, manual for the same ratios, auto for shorter ratios.

	Winner winner chicken dinner? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E34-535-auto-diff-/320767873904 I doubt you'll find one cheaper, I sold a manual 3.5 diff for £60 recently.
