I read that in 2012 the MOT is changing and it will include airbags.
But what does this mean in practice?
7.1.4. Safety belt Pre-tensioners:
Pre-tensioner obviously missing or not suitable with the vehicle.
7.1.5. Airbag:
(a) Airbags obviously missing or not suitable with the vehicle.
(b) Airbag obviously non-operative.
7.1.6. SRS Systems:
SRS MIL indicates any kind of failure of the system.
Does this mean that my track car is going to have problems with the MOT next year? I've removed the seatbelts and pre-tensioners in order to fit harnesses, removed the steering wheel and airbag to fit a Momo, and the SRS system is freaking out because the passenger seat is missing. I was going to take the bulb out. The passenger airbag was going to get binned too.
I know the "rules" are up there in black and white, but so many times I've read all these doomsday proposals from the giant moneypit in Brussels only to find that in practice it's largely ignored or easily worked around.
So, RR MOT testers, is my Merc destined never to see the road again, or am I able to work around this?!
