Additional Information:
Hi guys, here's our van reluctantly for sale.
I've got some more pics on the camera - will add them tomorrow.
1989 GMC Chevy G20 LPG Day Van Camper Conversion
5.7L V8 small block 350 engine - only 66,000 miles with some service history. LPG conversion, easy to use and switch between petrol and gas and decent mpg.
Full camper conversion
Remote central locking, electric windows, air conditioning, CD player
Excellent conversion - doesn't look home made at all - looks like a factory finish and with huge spec. U-shaped seating area and table that convert into king size bed.
- 240v electric hook up and leisure battery setup with inverter, charges off the engine (needs new leisure battery as current one doesn't hold charge), loads of plug sockets in the back
- 19" flatscreen TV, DVD, Freesat & dish
- Built-in electric heater with remote control
- Fridge - decent sized, works off 12v, 240v or could apparently work off gas (but no gas installation in van)
- Speaker system in rear
- Big wardrobe & shelves & lots of storage space under seats
- Original day van venetian blinds and new fitted curtains
- Mood lighting (original day van)
- Musical air horns - yeeha! (disconnected for MOT but easy to reconnect)
- 2x captains chairs in front
- CB radio
- Large storage box on rear, handy for BBQ etc
- Privacy glass in all the back windows so you can get changed ok at the beach!
- There's no cooker as we prefer to cook outside but there is room for one and for a gas bottle if you wanted
We've owned the van for about 18 months and its been great! Only selling as I've moved away with work and don't have time to go away on weekends any more. Its been fantastically reliable - has never let us down. You can leave it outside your house for weeks then just jump in it and go away for the weekend without any worries.
The seats and curtains were retrimmed last year in denim and red check - and the seat cushions are memory foam so nice and comfy at night.
Body-wise, its solid underneath and in good condition - just passed MOT this week with no problems. Its been resprayed at some point and there is some very slight bubbling in some of the corners but this is very small and unnoticeable and the van still looks smart and gets lots of admiring comments. The passenger side electric window's just stopped working - I think just a fuse or bad contact. I'll have a look at it this week and hopefully get it sorted.
All in all a great van - stands out from all the VWs and loads more room inside! You can fit in 2 boards and 2 bikes with no problems. The big engine is totally unstressed and you can cruise past all the other campers at 70mph all day. Insurance is surprisingly cheap - fully comp for us two 28 year-olds on 5000 miles, kept on the road, only £300.
