Can anyone recommend a good classic car insurance company? I don't want to pay over the odds and if possible I would like to insure the car for 6months of the year, is this possible.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks Simon

Car insurance, including classic has gone up a lot in the last year. Footman James have so far provided the best quote for me on my orion but its still a lot more than I paid last year. Becasue I use my orion as a daily and have no access to other cars this really does me no favours as I'm getting refused on this basis quite often.
Other than footman james, most others have been in the high £xxx range...

Performance Direct sorted mine out, for the MR2 turbo and tbh mine barely changed price this year, and its cheaper than my standard 106 1.5 derv

I've had luck with Graham Sykes and Heritage for modified BMW classic car insurance. I used to be with Flux for years, then they obviously didn't want my business anymore and massively upped my premium!

I tend to use Footman James tbh. They usually give me the most competetive quote and have never had issues with their service. Classic policies are usually for a fixed 12 month period. If you did get a 6 month policy you'l probably find it's more expensive than the 12 ! 'Laid up' insurance is also available, which covers for accidental damage, fire and theft, but not road use. Performance Direct sorted mine out, for the MR2 turbo and tbh mine barely changed price this year, and its cheaper than my standard 106 1.5 derv I insured my MK1 Golf GTi with them some years ago. Yes they were the cheapest, but god did I have a battle to get a reasonable (still well below market value) settlement when it got bent. Would use them again tbh !

I've used Lancaster and sureterm....both VERY cheap. Sureterm were 85 quid fully comp for my mini, and I'm 25 with 4 points, with Lancaster, they wanted 180, which I thought was still a good price! My vw t25 camper is 200 fully comp with sureterm too
