Ah, I appear to own a VW Passat bought for £255 congratulations ;D The 1600 is ok, it is not a track weapon, but not as slow as the 1300 with 55 BHP we have had over here ;D ukpassats is a good source of info, other than that if you need help/parts/info, let me know. I have three of them and have always had at least one for the last 10 years .... fuel consumption is also ok, the best engine in terms of mpg is the 1800 though .... i have the fuel injected 1800 with 90 BHP, which obviously wasn't available in the UK, and on longer trips 40-43 mpg is possible....

306s are surprisingly robust, and well protected from rust as it goes. Except around the leaky sunroof... And congratulations Mr. Ku, that is some bargainous car-buying. I would even go so far as to say you've managed to get hold of something better looking than that Maestro. I know, a bold claim...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Pffft, both of my 306s (a fully loaded GTi-6 and a mediocre specced Ph1 Meridian) did not have HG or electrical issues or a leaky roof (GTi-6 cost £2.2k I admit, the Meridian £500). Alot of the I put down to previous owners (after all, they will be owned by people who are tight in a number of cases.). Christ, a mate with a K Series Rover (a car enthusiast too) can't be bothered to change his crusty rad... Great to see you won the Passat Al. Enjoy rolling around in style and being unique (although with your yanks I guess you had that covered) .

1.6 petrol not diesel.
I might look at a 1.8 transplant if its dog slow, but then again, probably not.

haha for some reason, when I saw it I thought that it'd suit you hence why it was the only car that I linked to that wasn't LPG or Diesel. Looks like a bargain. Rather than look at a 1.8 transplant, you could look at a 1.9tdi transplant in the future. Then you'd have 50mpg and retro cool. RobinJI will be able to advise

Nice buy, I was watching that one.
I would normally prefer a wagon Passat but I really do prefer the hatch shape now on the B2.
Have fun and welcome to the family ;D
