Commie Car situation of resurection of boxy old fiats was:
Polish FSO - Fiat 125
Russian LADA - Fiat 124
Reason Russias had help/plans from FIAT was that some FIAT factories were in Poland (even during the cold war), plus one of the FIAT directors/family was a strong believer in communism.

I used to drive an FSO Polonez... my brother pointed out the other day that there are hardly any left. I can honestly say I've seen more Ferraris on the roads in the last few years than I have FSOs...
