I'm getting quite interested in these lately. does anyone know any thing about the wide body kit on this one? is it a kit that you can buy or is it a diy job? something like a zak spped kit from a capri

I went to Beaulieu Autojumble this year and I'd say they were the most common 'project' car for sale there. I think they are fantastic value but I wonder if they are the next classic to shoot up in price? Before I can afford one I bet

I think you will find that those arches are home brewed. I cant say ive ever seen them as a kit to buy in the 6 odd years ive owned Scimitars. Id recommend you ask the question on Scimweb, there are bound to be people on there who will have all the answers. Oh, that car is a 5a model, if you could buy a kit it wouldnt neccessarily be interchangeable between the 5/5a 6/6a/6b.... Tsp, you are correct in that there are plenty of project cars for sale out there. it seems like the "good" cars are starting to make proper money now. You can still pick up a decent MOTd car for half the price of a rotten Capri. they are pretty straightforward to work on, quite agricultural actually and there is very good support in terms of spares and advice if you have one. Bang for bucks, there is very little out there that will be as enjoyable to own and relatively easy to look after.

That car's 'Big Bob', well known among the Scimitar community. I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it's a one-off. Bear in mind you'd need mega-wide wheels to fill the arches : Scimitars run close to ET0 offset even as standard. Someone told me (IIRC) that the SE5's are a bit lighter, more responsive and the SE6's are more comfortable, better made and easier to driver. I think, personally I prefer the Exterior of the SE5 with the interior of the SE6. SE5 (Modified) SE6 And some other randoms- A Middlebridge GTE-

SE5/a are held up as the more sportscar-like, plus most of them will be tax exempt. SE6/a are essentially the same car with the chassis and body lengthened and widened, and was a move to become upmarket, more of a GT. Some say though that it became too big and heavy for the suspension to remain refined (though I know someone who says his Triumph 2000 is more of a sportscar than an SE5/a) There's not much between '5s and '6s in price.
SE6b and Middlebridge, though not much different to the SE6/a, are rarer and therefore more into 'classic' territory.
Bang for buck they're unbeatable IMO. I picked mine up for £400. Sure it needs rebuilt but there aren't many £400 cars can drive themselves onto the trailer :-)
It's SE5a for me, but the big square SE6a does look good in black.
Lot's of info to be had on Scimweb, and a few build threads on here too.

Lot's of info to be had on Scimweb, and a few build threads on here too. i have joined Scimweb a couple of days ago, some nice cars on there and good info. think I'm going to look for a se5a as I'm not to keen on the flat grill of the 6. ive seen a couple of project cars about for around the £300-400 I'm looking to spend (have spare lol) only problem there bloody miles away. but it gives me time to free up some space on the drive and garage until somthing local turns up

I've had a few GTEs, recently I've started to want another... Here's my last one (Rover V8): Do like the SE4 coupe alot too: like the front splitter on that ,ye I'm defo on the look out for one at the mo. the wifes (boss lol) has said ok but i have to clear the rest of my gear (junk) haha
