I'm never quite sure, it semes to change depending on which paint you have.
When i painted the mini i brought one load of paint which i mixed 1:1 (i guessed) and it didnt require thinners. Yet the next batch of paint i brought would have been stupidly thin at 1:1 so i mixed it 1 part hardener to 2 parts paint. Both dryed fine.
If you do use some thinners with it then id try and keep it to a minimum as I'm told using thinners makes it take alot longer to harden fully.

Do yourself a favour, go buy some mixing cups. They are far cheaper than cocking it all up.
The 2pack clear I used was 2 parts paint to one part hardener and 15% thinners. But they can be anything up to 5:1 - it will say on the can or on the data sheet.
If you really are too tight to buy mixing cups get a jam jar or similar container with STRAIGHT sides and a length of wood or scrap steel. Get a ruler and measure 5 cm, mark it here and then 2.5 cm above that. Put it in the pot when you mix the paint and fill up to the first line with paint, then up tot he second with hardener. You'll need to do the maths for 3:1 4:1 or 5:1 and also where to put the 10%/15%/20% mark as appropriate.
Mixing cups really are the way forward.
2K really fvcks up bad if you get it wrong and is like concrete to sand down so get it right, don't just guess.
And wear appropriate safety equipment. I was about ready to puke my guts after spraying 2K clear and I took "mostly" the right precautions, sort of.
Never again.

Oooh ooh ooh and don't buy cheap 2K either. The last thing you want is unpredictable paint. Go for Lechlar, PPG, Max Meyer or other brand you have heard of or been recommended to.
As a starting point Jawel who advertise on eBay is particularly rubbish. Avoid like plague.

I only use lechler and house of kolor. But thats because thats what our local paint shop sells, always buy from someone you can shout at in person if it goes wrong! If your in a booth and have all the measuring cups and stuff you should have no problems.
