help guys ive got to the stage where my 1974 firenza is sat in my garage and ive lost motovation. its a 74 1.8 with a 2.3 inside now. only needs a small amount of work and it would be a great little tidy car. but my mojo has gone for it. do i sit it in the garage and see if i get it back or possibly swap/sell for somthing retro thats on the road. please point me in the right direction as I'm stuck. this car has to be in my top 5 of cars i wanted to own so a decision to sell it would really break my heart. sad but true cheers in advance....

Ive being building my mk1 astra for 3 years now and ive lost and found my mojo afew times.Ive had afew setbacks like having 2 kids, and being in and out of work. But I'm always glad that i havent sold it as i would never get one like that back again. Try to get out to a show or meet,i find that always gives the mojo a kick in the right direction.

yeah fair comment but in the time ive owned it ive had 2.5 kids and the odd modernish car and ive currently got a g60 corrado so i don't get time to do anything to the old girl, just a waste, and i know if i sold it id never get another as sound as this one, decisions decisions lol...

I get like that with mine from time to time. Just walk away and come back to it another time. You'll never find another one.

U know if I had the money I'll take it off you! Hang in there man, you've been here before but you'll get it done. I've had the Magnum sitting in the garage for 10years but I'm still at it......

Have you lost your mojo because life has overtaken you or because deep down you think its not the car you want to build any more?
The answer to this question tells you whether you leave it a bit or sell it

Only sell it if you need the cash. I've had to put my hiace up for sale as i need cash. If i didn't i would never sell it and just get it done as and when.

Yeah, walk away for a few weeks to gather mojo-ation... I can still remember the sound of the cable crumpling the roof of my E coupe when the scrap man took it away.......... Stick with it. I've been on and off one of mine for about a decade now and come close to getting rid but like you, it's on my list..
Pics please.
Modified to add.... you can always just send it to me..... ;D

If it's one of your top five cars to own then why sell it ? You'll only regret it in months/years to come.
Everybody has mojo loss at some stage ... walk away for a while then get back into it when you want to.

Keep it mate, leave it for a few weeks and then make a list of the things left to do. Make a plan to have a few hours in the garage one day and get one of the jobs done, the mojo will return big time as soon as you see the crossed of jobs outnumbering the ones left

Unless you have to sell it then don't. If you need the space or cash ect then fair enough but if your only selling it because its there to sell you will only regret it in the long run.
What would you actually gain from selling it? If its not costing you any thing or not much to keep it in the garage then you might as well leave it there. You will wake up one day and just want to crack on with it but if you've sold it on by then you'll be gutted.

If it only needs a small amount of work then get on it, maybe get a mob round, have some beer & food on hand and make an afternoon/weekend out of addressing the bits it needs doing. I've been bogged down with projects before, my last bay took so dam long I was ready to flog it on after it was done but that feeling when you're driving back from the MOT station with a pass cert. & knowing that the vehicle you've waiting so long to get to that point is now on the road is a massive high! Getting the ol girl roadworthy would probably get some for the passion back, any other cosmetic/minor stuff can be little weekendd jobs as & when. If I was you I'd list out what needs to be done, prioritise nything that will be flagged for the MOT and go from there. Again try and draft in a bit of help to drive it all forward, good friends will always help out a mate who's stuck with his ride. Get the MOT done and see how you feel then, if the vibes just aren't there then you know you've got no love for the car & you can put it up for sale with an MOT rather than a 'project needing a small amount of work'. Best of luck on whatever you decide to do.
