cheapest - free: Vauxhall Victor estate. Daily for about 6 months until the second engine blew and I couldn't be assed anymore with it. Wasn't putting a 3rd engine in it.
Dearest - Probably £5500 on a modern Audi. Don't ask my why I did it...

To buy initially...?
Least = £0 on a Toyota Carina. Even had half a tank of juice in it.
Most = £3000 on the Mk3 Astra we had before the Focus.

Most I spent on a car would be roughly 750pound an old 2door MkII 'Scrotum bought from a dealer but had always wanted one so had to have it. It was good, had nothing on the C110 or even my old Chrysler Avenger GL/S
The least would be nothing.. AA60 Carina, RA60 Celica, and a couple of others I forget.

Most expensive (not including 3.5k on 306 diesel turbo we sold a year and 15k miles later for £3250) would have been my Oxford which was £1300. Cheapest was "Brian" the beige Dolomite that was £150 and served us well for 6 winter months before getting scrapped.

Cheapest - The Monza - Come and get it - it's free - cost me £86 in Diesel to go fetch it from Southampton!!!!
In terms of maintenance and expenditure it's cost me way too much - but I don't care!!!
Expensive - The LC - and to this day I still don't know why I bought it as the monza is a better drive in every way till you mash the loud pedal then the LC make the horizon get nearer fast!!!
In terms of maintenance and expenditure it will cost me way too much - and it really pisses me off!!

Cheapest: MK2 Polo Sq back estate whatever! Free! Solid no maintanance hassles cost just too damn small for me! behind this? Second Micra, rusty old thing only needed burnt oil topping up and chassis welding now and then, what a machine i miss it lots! Most expensive: Sierra V8, thousands in that! and still not on the road will need at minimum an ally rad and custom exhaust before next summer, and a load of cosmetic mods i cant afford *gulp* at least its held its value!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Cheapest? Got given a little 100A FII estate by the daughter of a local club member after he sadly died, got it MoTed and it's still around now. Crashed JDM Cedric which got Merc back end by subsequent owner was also a freebie. Laurel just about to be broken was £25, but had to spend money on it for MoT.
Dearest? For my own use, a Pug 309GR bought for £2450 in 1990, written off a year later - oops. Had cheaper/older stuff ever since, apart from Mrs SL's Carina which was £3k.

cheapest was Peaches' old Polo, £100 and i walloped in a free engine to get it going. now sold on, but a really nice drive once it was done.
Dearest was my first Polo, the G40.... £1550 i paid for that but got it all back two years later.
Sticking to retro stuff means I hardly ever lose out - got near as damnit what I paid for most cars when selling them on, apart from the Quattro which was bought for £275 and sold on with a slipping clutch for £550!
