Noticed it last night,gonna try some in my tranny when I get back up to scotchland,I've heard it causes the tank etc to clean itself hence requiring a new derv filter pretty sharpish,which I don't fancy changing in Carlisle at 9am!!!!

My transit needed the filter changing within 50 miles of running on Veg oil.. Runs sweet on 100% veg oil now. |

Weren't so long ago you could grab 20 ltrs for a tenner, guess it was inevitable really. I still reckon I get more miles from a tank of clean veg. *Rest of my veg supply is here as we no longer have a dizzler on the fleet  shameless bay linkage |

In 5 hours you could drive from one end of it to the other, surely! I understand that it's not worth it for cheap veg oil, but still. The whole of Ireland is only about 500km long, and I've driven 1200km before to go to a car show. |

I think I saw a 3L bottle in Londis for £3.05 recently, wasn't even on offer. I've got 60L sat at home that I can't use for fear of killing my Lucas pump... |

as far as I can tell, here in Ireland the price of veg oil is tracking the price of diesel plus a couple of cent per litre. There was a time a few years ago when ALDI and LIDL were selling veg oil for cheap and people were buying up dozens of 1 litre bottles and glugging it into their cars in the car parks. I seem to remember the government acted quickly to protect their source of revenue: fuel sales...

Well, yes, it is small but with the way the roads are (you'd find it VERY difficult to average 100km/h over 500km in this country) and if you were going to stick within speed limits there's not much chance of getting from one end to the other in 5 hours. You said it yourself anyway it's not worth driving 5 hours for veg oil. There's also the added hassle that northern Ireland is technically a different country despite being on the same small island and uses a different currency so after working that all out it really doesn't make sense. Would be nice to not have to spend ages filtering used oil if it was cheap enough new. near me the cheapest i've found it (new) is 1.35/litre and that's not even all the time |

To keep it on topic: worth a look in Costco if you have a membership card! |

Saw that, I bought 30litres to start the stockpile
I don't even have a diesel yet, but get a start. The hunt is on for a decent solid TD Musso SE Auto.
In summer those things will run all day long on 100% veggie, and pretty high levels in winter.
On the subject of cleaning the tank, one of the guys on the Estima forum swears by using a double dose of Diesel Biocide in his last tank of diesel and first tank of high veg content in all the Estimas he has owned, and says that he doesn't need to do a filter change any sooner than normal. And he hasn't had any veggie related fails. Going to give that a go, worst that can happen is I will still need to change the filter early.
